Come join us for tonight’s “Living in Harmony with Wildlife” seminar. Meeting starts at 6:30 at The Colony Public Library, in the old council chambers. Come learn specifically about coyotes and bobcats. We will learn ways to detour them from your property, how to handle situations were you may encounter them, and how to live in peace with the wildlife that surrounds us.
We will have good snacks and refreshments on hand. Join us for this fun and informational meeting!

🐱✨ Whisker Wednesday Spotlight: Buddy! ✨🐱

If you're looking for a cat that's equal parts handsome, sweet, and easygoing, we'd love for you to meet Buddy!

This adorable 1.5-year-old neutered brown and white tabby has the cutest face, the gentlest personality, and a heart full of love to give. Buddy is the kind of cat who seems ready to fit into just about any home—as long as it's not overly loud or chaotic.

Buddy is a quiet, gentle soul who enjoys spending time with his people, lounging in cozy spots, and discovering the joys of playtime. He's recently learned that toys are actually pretty fun, and now you'll often find him chasing springs, batting around toy balls, pouncing on wand toys, or investigating anything that moves. Once he gets going, it's hard not to smile watching his playful side come out!

🧡 Buddy's favorite things:
🐾 Chasing springs and toy balls
🪶 Wand toys and gentle play sessions
🛏️ Soft blankets and cozy nap spots
🌞 Window watching from a cat tree
😻 Cuddles and attention from his people

Buddy has been very respectful and interested in the other cats at the shelter and acts like he would love having a feline friend to keep him company. He has not been tested with dogs. He should do well with children of any age who are gentle and respectful with him.

One of the sweetest things about Buddy is how content he is simply being near his people. Give him a comfy blanket, a few toys, a sunny window, and some love, and he'll be one happy cat. He'll be waiting to greet you when you get home and gladly accept a cuddle or two before settling in for the evening.

Buddy isn't just a good cat—he's a great cat. The kind of cat that quietly becomes your best friend before you even realize it.

Our shelves are looking a little bare, and we're officially down to our last bag of kitten dry food! 🐱💔

Right now, we have lots of growing kittens in our care, and keeping their tiny tummies full is a top priority. We use Purina ONE Healthy Kitten Dry Food, and we're in need of donations to help us keep up with the demand.

The good news? It's easy to find! You can purchase it at just about any store that sells pet food, including Walmart, Target, Kroger, PetSmart, Petco, and more.

The Colony Animal Services is excited to host Living in Harmony with America’s Song Dog featuring special guests from Song Dog Watch! This community meeting will focus on understanding local wildlife, coexisting safely, and learning humane solutions for encounters with coyotes and bobcats.

Looking for one great dog? How about TWO? Meet Max and Smokey, our handsome duo who are both searching for forever homes!

🤎 Max is a 1-year-old neutered Pit Bull with a brown and white coat and a personality as big as his heart. He loves people, enjoys making new friends, and is always ready for an adventure. Like many young dogs, he’s still working on his leash manners and can be strong when excited, but he’s eager to learn and would thrive with an active family willing to continue his training.

🩶 Smokey is a 1-year-old neutered Pit Bull with a striking blue and white coat and the same fun-loving, energetic spirit. He enjoys playtime, attention from his people, and would love a home where he can stay active and be included in family activities.

🐾💙 MAN'S BEST FRIEND MONDAY: BUCEE EDITION! 💙🐾

Looking for a best friend who will always be excited to see you, make you laugh daily, and never turn down an adventure? Meet Bucee!

This handsome 1-year-old Labrador Retriever mix is proof that a dog's love really is something special. With his chocolate and white coat, goofy personality, and heart full of affection, Bucee is ready to become someone's loyal sidekick.

Like any young dog, Bucee is still learning his manners and has plenty of energy to burn. He already knows how to sit, loves earning treats, and will happily offer you his paw when he's feeling extra charming. He's smart, eager to learn, and looking for a family who will continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he's destined to be.

Bucee is said to be dog-friendly, but because he plays with enthusiasm, a meet and greet is required. He would do best with older children and will need a home without cats or small dogs. An active family that enjoys walks, playtime, and making memories together would be his dream come true.

This Man's Best Friend Monday, we're hoping Bucee finds the one thing he wants most: a family of his own.

He's currently staying offsite with our friends at My Neighbors Dog Co., working on his skills and patiently waiting for someone to fall in love with him.

DIXIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

💔 Sometimes the hardest dogs to find homes for are the ones who ask for so little.

Meet Dixie, a 6-year-old spayed Retriever mix who watches families walk past her kennel every day. Puppies get noticed. Young dogs get noticed. Small dogs get noticed. But sweet, middle-aged Dixie keeps waiting.

The truth is, Dixie isn't asking for adventures every weekend or hours of nonstop activity. She's dreaming about something much simpler.

A soft couch.

A sunny spot by the window.

A person to take slow walks with.

Someone who will love her enough to help her lose a few extra pounds and enjoy her golden years in comfort.

Dixie is a gentle, easygoing girl who walks nicely on a leash and would be happy in either an apartment or a house. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but offer her a few treats and a little patience, and you'll quickly discover the sweetest companion you could ask for.

She doesn't need to be the center of attention. She doesn't need to be the fastest, youngest, or most exciting dog in the room.

She just needs someone to finally choose her.

If you've been looking for a loyal friend to share quiet mornings, evening walks, and lazy afternoons in the sunshine, Dixie is waiting.

🚨 Where are all of our cat lovers?! 🚨

The Colony Animal Services currently has 19 cats available for adoption and they're all hoping to find their forever homes! 🐱❤️

On top of that, we have another two dozen cats and kittens in our care that aren't available yet because they're either too young for adoption or currently on medical hold. Kitten season is keeping us very busy, and we're in need of your help!
