Introducing our Back-to-School Pets of the Week at the Temple Animal Shelter! Yup, the shelter is full of amazing, sweet, playful, loving dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens and this is just a sample for you to consider. I've been told that black or dark colored pets are usually hard to place and are often the last to find homes. This is because the dark coloring makes it hard to see their facial expressions. Well, someone forgot to tell the shelter volunteer who takes these pictures about that because the Pets of the Week list at the Temple Animal Shelter sure does have some great dark/black pets to showcase this week and an orange cat. Just look at these beautiful, hopeful, loving faces of the dogs and cats that just want a loving home of their very own.

As we head into the scorching month of August, let's check out the adorables at the Temple Animal Shelter. First of all, who could possibly pass up a dog named Gravy Boat?!!! C'mon people, really? This amazing group is having an awesome event this Saturday in Belton. Shots, microchips, food, supplies, and more for your pets. Come on out and see what it's all about!

It’s a Block Party and you’re invited! 🥳

This Saturday, July 19th from 9-12, we are teaming up with Helping Hands Ministry of Belton to host a special event for both people and their pets 🐾

Helping Hands will have produce to give away to our neighbors in need along with donated dental supplies from Ace Dental.

We will be offering donation-based services for pets including:
✅ FREE Cat vaccines (HCP/FVRCP)
✅ FREE Dog vaccines (parvo/distemper)
✅ Microchips
✅ Pet food
✅ Pet supplies
✅ $5 PetHub tags or Engraved tags
✅ Basic grooming (nail trims/ear cleaning)
✅ Information on pet cremation services
✅ FREE activity books from Maddie's Fund and Kind News magazine
✅ Resources on pet-inclusive housing from Michelson Found Animals Foundation

Happy Independence Day y'all!

Before we get to the 4th of July Pets of the Week, let's talk about pet safety a bit. Historically, July 4 is the busiest day of the year for animal shelters with record numbers on intake. FIREWORKS SCARE PETS! Please do everything possible to keep your pets safe over the next few days. Make sure they are in a safe, secure place where they can't run away. Even if you think your pet won't run when the fireworks start, secure them anyway. And if your pet does go missing, always check with your local animal shelter in case they have been picked up.
