Meet Roy โ€” a quiet, watchful soul I met at a gas station, where I feed a colony of cats. For weeks, he kept his distance, eyes full of fear, sometimes running away the moment I got too close. But slowly, with patience and gentleness, Roy began to trust me.

One day, he took a brave step forwardโ€ฆ and walked into the trap. Thanks to the wonderful St. francis Rescue, Roy went in for TNR and received much-needed medical care. The vet found that Roy has microphthalmia in one eye and an elevated third eyelid in the other โ€” and deep wounds on his neck and arm from other cats. Heโ€™s been through so much, yet somehow, Roy is still incredibly sweet.

We believe he was once someoneโ€™s petโ€ฆ and then abandoned. But even after all the pain, he chooses to trust again. Heโ€™s now resting in a cozy bed โ€” maybe the first soft place heโ€™s ever known.

Heโ€™s a survivor. And more than that, heโ€™s a reminder of how far love, patience and kindness can go.

Gumbo, Roux and Jambalaya came to St. Francis at just three weeks old. They were tiny, vulnerable and finally safe.

Gumbo had an especially difficult road ahead of him. He was born with a genetic condition that severely damaged his eyes.

He underwent corrective surgeries and had already been through so much. At just four months old, he tested positive for panleukopenia and was hospitalized.

For a while, Gumbo seemed to be doing better. And then, he wasnโ€™t. ๐Ÿ’”

Our spunky kitten who loved his wet food, bits of watermelon, and rubbing his face on his foster mom could not recover, and sadly, Gumbo passed away.

Gumboโ€™s sister Roux would also have a short life. She later passed away from congenital heart disease.

But this story has one more chapter! Jambalaya has grown into a healthy young kitten and has found his furever home. โค๏ธ

Gumboโ€™s little life was far too short, but we gave him every possible chance. His eye surgeries, veterinary care and hospitalization were all part of the fight to save this little boy.

Meet Croissant โ€“ a gentle soul with a heart of gold
Before warm beds and soft blankets, Croissant knew the uncertainty of life on the streets. He learned to be cautious, to watch from afar, and to protect his little heart.
But everything changed when he was rescued!
Croissant is shy at first, but with a little patience and kindness, he slowly begins to trustโ€”and thatโ€™s when his sweet personality shines. Heโ€™s a year old, affectionate, gentle, calm, and incredibly well-mannered. The kind of kitty who loves quietly and bonds deeply with his person.
He enjoys soft naps, cozy spots, and simply being near someone who makes him feel safe. Every small step he takes is a reminder of how much love can heal.
