We partner with shelters and the community to save animals in need.

Rebels Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)3 animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets in Hillsborough County and the Greater Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to end unnecessary euthanasia by pulling the highest risk pets from the county's high-kill shelter and placing them in our foster homes where they will receive the love, attention and care they deserve while they await adoption. All

pets receive appropriate vet care in addition to being spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to becoming available for adoption. We host bi-weekly adoption events at Pet Supermarket in South Tampa and a monthly Cats, Crystals & Crafts event the 3rd Sunday of every month at Southern Brewing in Seminole Heights. We rely solely on donations from the public to continue our mission of saving the lives of at-risk pets. Our sweet Cookie is currently in the adoption kiosk inside the South Tampa Pet Supermarket waiting for her new family to find her. Her mom days are behind her, and her forever-home chapter is finally here. She's affectionate, friendly, and loves hanging out with humans and other cats. She has so much love to give… she just needs someone willing to give her theirs right back 💕

Meet our newest rescue dog, the tiny but mighty Evie!! This sweet girl was on a deadline with the potential to be euthanized if a rescue was not found to take her yesterday by 5pm. This morning, Evie woke up safe in her foster home with a second chance at life and love thanks to her amazing foster volunteer who stepped up for her yesterday!

Featured Foster Friday: Meet Sasha 💕

Sasha is a gentle, dainty 7-year-old girl who truly just needed someone to slow down for her… and see HER. She was facing euthanasia in September because the shelter environment was just too overwhelming for her. Too many new faces. Too many hands trying to handle her too fast. Too much noise. Too much change all at once. And she shut down.

Once she got out… once she was given time, decompression, predictable routines, soft voices, and people who respected her boundaries — her personality started showing bit by bit. She LOVES to sit in your lap and be close. She leans in. She flops for belly rubs when she feels safe. She’s smart, attentive, and she is proving every single day that older dogs absolutely can learn new things. This happy girl is actually thriving in training and learning commands beautifully. 🖤

Sasha doesn’t need “perfect.” She just needs patient. She needs gentle people who will listen to her cues, let her warm up at her own pace, and continue showing her humans can be safe.

She is spayed, 7 years old, 45.8lbs, selective in playgroups, easy to leash, calm walker, toy enjoyer, slow-trust builder, and a total lap companion once she chooses you.

We fought for her. We believed she deserved another shot. Now we just need the final step — her forever.

How to Adopt:
1. Browse our animals that are available for adoption online or come by one of our adoption events
2. Find the cat or dog that's right for you and your family
3. Submit our adoption inquiry form at https://www.rebelsrescue.com/forms/form?formid=4564
4. Arrange a meet and greet! Fall in love with your new best friend and discuss any questions with your adoption counselor
5. Complete all remaining adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee
6. Take your new best friend home!

Adoptions fees start at $115 for adults and $140 for kittens and help us continue to rescue and care for more animals in need.

All available pets are:
1. Spayed and neutered
2. Fully vaccinated based on age/weight at the time of adoption
3. Have received a medical exam
4. Microchipped
5. All dogs are tested for heartworms
6. All cats 6 months and older are tested at the time of entry for FIV and FeLV and will be specified if negative or positive in the medical as well as the description. (Please note that FIV and FeLV testing at the time of entry do not guarantee the cats will be free of the disease.)

Rebels Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization dedicated to facilitate the rescue of and find new homes for stray, abandoned, neglected, abused, and surrendered animals at the high kill shelters in the Tampa Bay and surrounding area. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER but a foster based rescue group. Rebels Rescue animals are placed with foster families. These families are Rebels volunteers who generously open their homes to animals in need. Rebels animals are provided with all necessary veterinary care. They are checked for internal parasites, fleas, and ear mites, then given treatments and immunizations as required. Cats and kittens are checked for feline leukemia and FIV, dogs and puppies are checked for heartworm, and all animals are treated accordingly. Rebels Rescue is financed by donations. Most of this money comes from the generosity of private donors like you. Our efforts wouldn’t be possible without financial support from the many wonderful people who care about the welfare of these animals.
