Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue Non-profit rescue group. Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue is a completely volunteer based non profit organization that is funded exclusively through donations.

Housing adoptable pets in foster homes rather than a facility allows us to give potential adopters insight into what type of home would be the best match

for each dog. Each dog in our care receives age appropriate vaccinations, spay or neuter surgeries, microchipping, and heart worm testing. When needed we have also provided extensive medical care such as heart worm treatment, orthopedic repair surgeries, amputations, skin grafting, cataract removal, mange dipping, etc. Our ultimate goal is to find a loving forever home for each dog in our care. Our mission is to prevent euthanasia of adoptable pets through community education and foster/ adoption services. BDR provides community outreach through educational programs at summer camps and local schools emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering and responsible pet ownership. Additionally, we host local seventh grade Civics students each weekend while they preform their community service hours. We believe that creating a caring community begins at an early age and we are doing our part. BDR has also provided emergency relief assistance to communities in disaster such as relief trips after Hurricane Katrina-LA flood victims and numerous trips to assist with dogs coming from hoarding and puppy mill situations. While we are fortunate enough to receive discounted services from several of our local veterinarians, care as well as housing costs such as food, kennels, heart worm and flea prevention, collars, leashes, shampoos, and toys is still expensive and will always be our most limiting factor. We appreciate all the help we can get.

Franklin county residents, here is your chance to get a spay or neuter voucher…

We have been dealing with litter after litter of puppies for the last six weeks. Yes, they are cute, but all of these puppies need homes. Any puppy that ends up with us gets the love and care it needs as well as being spayed or neutered but just think of all the ones that don't end up here and don't get spayed and neutered. That is why we are offering the free rabies and spay/neuter voucher day on Saturday, April 11th From 10 A.m. to 1 P.m. at the Humane Society. We would like to see everyone in Franklin County, who has a dog or a cat that is unaltered, take advantage of this offer. Now is the time to make sure that you are not contributing to the huge numbers of unwanted pets in our community.

🐾 2-Week Heads Up! Free Pet Clinic on April 12 🐾

Mark your calendars! We’re hosting a FREE Rabies & Microchip Clinic as part of a Pet Hurricane Preparedness Event to help keep your furry family members safe this season.

📅 Date: April 12
⏰ Time: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
📍 Location: 1125 Easterwood Drive

✅ We will giving out free microchips, rabies vaccinations, pet ID tags and hurricane kits while supplies last. This event is first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early. This event is for Leon County residents only. Dogs must be on a leash, cats in carriers and all pets must be at least 3 months old.

This is a great opportunity to protect your pets and make sure they’re prepared in case of emergencies. Microchipping and up-to-date rabies vaccinations can make all the difference!

No appointment needed—just come by during clinic hours. We hope to see you there! 🐶🐱🦦
