Ozzy was pleased to find out today he completed his Board and Train stay with us at Adelhorst. ❣️
This guy did amazing with his family in our training session at pickup
We worked around the pond at Jordan creek town center and Scheels
Both providing different distractions for his family to see his progress and learn the thinking behind the training.

Luna returned to her family this week.

Luna is the third shepherd Adelhorst has trained for them.

Luna and I took advantage of this beautiful weather this evening and took a long walk together.

It was a great opportunity for further growth for her.
We passed a field of goats, which was a positive distraction for her.
She could look, but she couldn’t bark.
Other people out walking in the cars passing were incredibly good experiences for her to be reminded that if she stays right next to me really good things happen. Once you leave my side, there is a consistent consequence.
On our way back home, we were able to walk with no corrections beyond verbal help to make good choices. 

Luna is very fearful.
This means she lacks trust and confidence.
Two things that if they are not addressed in an educated, patient, yet strong way will lead her to fear biting as an adult.
Ideally, I wish I had another 3 to 4 weeks with this girl.

R***r’s progress video in Adelhorst Board and train program.

R***r is a Adelhorst Chance and Glory 2026 pup.
Under 6mo of age
Starting good behavior from the beginning is so important.
While enjoying this video, notice how litter the leash is actually used.
My arm relaxes next to me.
I’m looking for vernal control.
You’ll hear me say “no”
This is his key word to help him check himself.
It’s a proactive way to help him make good choices.
You’ll notice he puts himself back in heel position just with the word “no”…. As soon as he gets in correct position, I reward with the word “yes”

Consistency is key to success.
The dogs I train never need to try and figure out my mood for the day.
My goal is always train in the voice I want to live.
Calm, quiet or fun energy that promotes fast movement.
Staying in control of your own emotions and behaviors is essential for being able to lead with confidence.

The initial part of the video demonstrates a “workout” then I move into a casual walk with him.
The workout sets the standard… reminds him I’m the leader.
This is how I get eye contact even as the distractions of cars passing, roadkill lol and other things in nature are right there with us.

Think vacation! If you’re going away, why not come home to a trained puppy or dog.

Adelhorst Jewel (Ember) is now in her forever home!
This makes me so happy.
I love this Jewel so much.
She makes my heart happy looking at her and has a sweet temperament to match that outside beauty.

Jewel was purchased by Adelhorst for our breeding program.
One of her elbows didn’t pass OFA
After her spay, Jewel joined Brooks family.
I’ve known Brooke since she was a child.
Seeing my pups in her care gives me peace of mind.
