As of 4:15 pm Nov. 24, 2025 We lost the sweetest horse ever. DAKOTA SIOUX
She touched so many lives. RIP Sioux. She was a 4 month old on the side of a malnourished PMU mare Dakota and less than a year later she welcomed Lakota. The PMU farm had bred this in poor condition Mare back.
Sioux joined her buddy Prince today. Sad day! She had a great life with a herding family and so many people who loved her.
Thank you to: Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in San Antonio, Dr Martin. DVM and Amanda LVT for assisting her today.

Short video on Kahlua’s desensitizing groom session

The other day Kahlua had a bit of a knot in her tail, so she got a good desensitization lesson. Horses are flight animals and scare easily. But with time and trust they can be comfortable with just about anything.
Claudette is great at working with the horses. Although Kahlua was very uncomfortable, Claudette remained calm and through pressure and release, sort of like a please and thank you, worked her way through most of the tangle. Pressure could be the slightest pull on the nose or holding onto her shoulders. This session did not take very long. When she was calm for a little while, Claudette ended the session to give Kahlua a break and gain trust.
Kahlua’s buddies, Streakin and Thunder, were very worried about her and came to check on her. What great friends!

Went around interviewing some of the residents at Osborne Stables Equine Rescue! Some of the residents declined an interview, they were very invested in their grazing hay! At the end Merlot was done with me asking all the questions!
