It is a fair question—but the price alone cannot tell you whether a program is right for you and your dog.

Two dogs can display the same behavior for completely different reasons. A dog reacting on the leash may be excited, fearful, frustrated, or presenting a genuine safety concern.

The behavior may look similar. The training plan may need to be very different.

At K9 Fluent, we need to understand the dog standing in front of us—and the person holding the leash—before we can responsibly recommend a program.

It is a fair and completely reasonable question. But price alone cannot tell you whether a training program is actually right for you and your dog.

Two dogs may both pull on the leash and react to other dogs—but the reasons behind those behaviors can be completely different. One may be excited, another may be afraid, and another may present a genuine safety concern.

Similar behaviors do not always require the same training plan.

At K9 Fluent Professional Dog Training, we do not believe in forcing every dog into one package, one price, or one solution. Before we recommend a program, we need to understand the dog standing in front of us—and the person holding the leash.

🐾 Group Class Is Where Training Meets Real Life

Monday night’s group class focused on walking and heeling—but we didn’t make it easy. 😉

We added a very specific real-world distraction: a stroller with a fake baby AND baby crying sounds. 👶🍼

Why?

Because for expecting parents, bringing home a baby changes more than their own routine. It changes their dog’s world, too.

A stroller suddenly moves alongside them on walks. There are new sounds, new equipment, new routines, and a tiny new family member getting a whole lot of attention.

Instead of waiting until baby comes home to see how the dog handles it, we can start preparing beforehand.

During class, owners practiced maintaining communication, position, and control while walking and heeling around the stroller and crying sounds. The goal isn’t for dogs to live in a distraction-free bubble—it’s to teach them how to make good choices when real life is happening around them.

That’s why we love group class. ❤️

We can create controlled challenges, coach the owner through them, and help build skills that transfer outside our training facility.

Because obedience is great.

Obedience you can actually use in everyday life is even better.

🐾 Learning, connecting, and bringing new knowledge home to Northern Utah!

The K9 Fluent team has had an incredible time at the 2026 International Association of Canine Professionals Conference in Newport Beach, California!

The IACP brings canine professionals together to exchange knowledge, explore different training methods, learn from real-world experiences, and continue raising the standard of care within our industry.

Continuing education is not simply about accepting every new idea we hear. It is about listening with an open mind, asking thoughtful questions, strengthening the practices that produce healthy results, and recognizing what may not align with our values or the individual dogs and families we serve.

Every presentation, conversation, and differing perspective gives us an opportunity to think more deeply about what we do—and why we do it.

Dog training continues to evolve, and we believe responsible professionals should continue evolving too. We are excited to bring what we have learned back to our team, our clients, and the dogs who trust us.

Because better knowledge helps us build better trainers, clearer communication, and better lives for people and dogs together. 💙🐶

Our team is currently in Newport Beach, California, attending the 2026 International Association of Canine Professionals Conference!

We believe professional dog trainers should never stop learning. This week gives us the opportunity to learn from other respected canine professionals, explore new ideas, sharpen our skills, and bring valuable information home to our clients, team, and dogs.

Tess and Tifdany recently evaluated two teams for their AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) titles at Layton Hills Mall! Both Humans and Dogs passed!!!

These advanced AKC evaluations test much more than whether a dog can perform commands. They demonstrate how well the dog and handler can work together around real-world distractions, unfamiliar environments, people, movement, sounds, doors, hallways, and changing surfaces.

CGCA focuses on good manners within the community. CGCU takes those skills into busy urban environments where dogs must remain composed, responsive, and under control.

Training inside a facility builds the skill. Practicing in the real world teaches the dog how to use it when it truly matters. 💙

What does real-world dog training actually look like? 🐕🏬

Tess and Tiffany, recently had the opportunity to evaluate two dog-and-handler teams for their AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) titles at Layton Hills Mall.
Our Training Manager, Kenzie, worked alongside her dog, Kita, while one of our K9 Fluent clients completed the testing exercises with her dog, Daphne. Both Humans and Dogs Passed.

These advanced Canine Good Citizen evaluations go beyond performing commands in a quiet training room. Dogs must demonstrate good manners, reliable obedience, handler focus, and emotional control while navigating real-world distractions.

The CGCA evaluates a dog’s skills within the community, while the CGCU tests its ability to remain composed in busy urban environments. Layton Hills Mall gave us plenty of realistic challenges—including shoppers, sounds, movement, changing surfaces, doors, hallways, and unexpected distractions.

This is why we practice beyond the training facility. A dog may understand a skill at home, but learning to perform it calmly in public is where training begins to improve everyday life.
