๐พ A summer reminder worth repeating: cheatgrass and foxtails are one of the sneakiest hazards in Central Oregon.
Last year we wrote about these dry grasses after Central Oregon Daily News reported a surge in injuries across the region and now that things are drying out again, it's time for a refresher. These plants launch tiny, barbed seeds called "awns" that burrow into paws, ears, noses, and eyes and can't back their way out. Left alone, they cause painful infections and emergency vet visits.
The good news? A quick once-over after every walk goes a long way. Check between the toes, inside the ears, and around the face after your pup explores.
