Sweet Ozzie has truly stolen our hearts. ❤️

About a year ago, Ozzie came to us battling severe immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). He had already received multiple blood transfusions at the emergency hospital, but he still was not eating and his family was devastated and unsure what else to do.

Together, we continued his care, supported him through the ups and downs, and slowly watched this sweet boy fight his way back. It was a long rollercoaster journey, and while Ozzie is still taking several medications, we are so happy to say he is no longer anemic and has been doing great.

Recently, Ozzie faced another challenge when he developed a growth in his mouth that required a COHAT, dental treatment, and mass removal. Given his medical history, we were very concerned about anesthesia risks, but Ozzie once again showed us how strong he is. ❤️ The procedure went well, and the mass thankfully came back BENIGN.

Ozzie is one of those special patients who gives hugs, kisses, and endless love to everyone he meets. His parents touched our hearts by bringing this beautiful card and individual goodie bags for our entire team as a thank you.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. Thank you for trusting us to care for your sweet boy and for being part of the Country Oaks Veterinary Clinic family. We love you, Ozzie! 🐾

Rabies alert in Marion County 🚨

This is an important reminder to make sure your pets are current on their rabies vaccinations.

Rabies is a deadly virus that affects both animals and humans. Wildlife such as raccoons, bats, foxes, and even stray cats can expose your pets — sometimes right in your own backyard.

Even indoor pets can be at risk if an infected animal enters your garage, porch, or home.

✅ Keep rabies vaccines up to date
✅ Avoid contact with wildlife
✅ Supervise pets outdoors
✅ Call your veterinarian immediately if your pet has contact with a wild animal

Rabies vaccination is not only required by law — it is one of the most important vaccines we give to protect your family and your pets.

If you are unsure whether your pet is due, give us a call and we’ll be happy to check.

🐾 Stay safe, Marion and surrounding Counties!

Yesterday, this little mole made an unexpected trip into our house thanks to our sweet hunting dog.

Cute? Maybe.
Harmless? Not always.

Moles, rodents, and wildlife can carry Leptospirosis — a serious bacterial disease that can be transmitted to dogs through infected urine, contaminated soil, puddles, or water sources. In some cases, leptospirosis can cause severe kidney failure, liver disease, and can even be fatal.

Even more important: Leptospirosis is zoonotic, meaning people can become infected too.

Many pet owners think their dog is “low risk” because they live mostly indoors or in suburban neighborhoods. But all it takes is:
• sniffing wildlife
• drinking from standing water
• exposure to contaminated grass or mud
• bringing home an unexpected backyard visitor

Thankfully, vaccination dramatically reduces the risk of severe disease.

Sometimes your cute, sweet family member brings more than love into the house. ❤️

Talk to your veterinarian about whether the Leptospirosis vaccine is appropriate for your pet.
