Performance Stock Horses LLC - Dutch Morrow

Performance Stock Horses LLC - Dutch Morrow Professional horseman and trainer with over 20 years experience in the equine industry During this time he worked specifically with warmbloods.

Dutch began working with horses very early on in life, starting as a child showing in Western Pleasure up through his high school years. His collegiate studies earned him a BS in Equine Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Throughout his college career, he focused on equine behavior, breeding, and training. He prepped them for sales, presented ISR Oldenburg at breed insp

ections, and presented young warmbloods in hand and under saddle at sport horse auctions. Following graduation, he did extensive research on equine COPD and developing an EBC (Equine Breath Condensate) for horses. In addition to his extensive knowledge in equine breeding and training, Dutch also worked as an ER Vet Tech. Upon graduation, Dutch focused on sport horses, showing at breed shows throughout the country including dressage at Devon. Following his years with the warmbloods, he transitioned back to his Western Pleasure roots in 2007, partnering with Merry Norton Sharp to build Twilight Farms Horse Training LLC in Winter Garden, FL where he works to this day. Dutch trains primarily in the Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle but welcomes all disciplines. His training methods focus on teaching horses to understand the job expected of them and to use their body properly, which are both fundamental to all riding styles. He trains his human students in both general horsemanship on the ground and proper riding technique in the saddle, focusing on them learning "feel" and effectively communicating with their horse. In his own words...

"I believe it is not our horses' job to get along with us, but our job to get along with them. Far too often we get tunnel vision, hyper focused on our training, and in turn we forget the most important factor when it comes to our horses, their mental health. Without this, we can never achieve the level of communication or the results in the show ring we desire. What matters to me the most is that my horses are confident, respectful, and, above all, content."

Congratulations to Mason Sredl and Taylor Holton for another successful Regional Championship in Perry, Georgia!

Mason, along with Coupe and Chunky, made it through the semifinals in both Horsemanship and Western Pleasure. They placed 2nd out of 21 competitors in Halter Geldings, earned a Top 10 out of 30 in Pleasure, and a Top 10 out of 38 in the Horsemanship finals. Mason and Lexus Made ended the show with a Top 5 placing out of 20 in Western Dressage.

For the first time at Regionals, Mason and Just Zip By were first place and class champions in Western Trailβ€”1st out of 26 competitors!

Not only did Mason win Western Trail, but Taylor Holton and Gonna Wanna Zipit, with the help of her grandmother, Vicki Prettyman, had a beautiful round in Ranch Trail and placed 1st out of 62β€”earning class champion!

I’m so proud of Mason, Taylor, and their amazing horses. Keep up the hard work and get ready for next year! 😊

Congratulations to Jody Ruth and Pocos Lena Gem.

They had a fantastic test,
With a score of 9 on working jog, working walk, relaxation/swing through back, stretch, straightness, and Harmony!

This mare is so elegant and expressive and has been an absolute pleasure to train. Gem always comes to the arena ready to work and learn. She has the most gentle soul and gives me her ALL every single ride. Gem and Jody make a fantastic pair, and I feel so lucky to be part of their western dressage journey.

A huge congratulations to Mason Sredl and Chunky for an unbelievable end to their very first 4H show season together. Qualifying for local zone show, state, and then moving onto the final regional show that took place in Perry Georgia this past week. Mason and Chunky competed in Western Horsemanship, Trail, and Pleasure. Unlike all the qualifying shows, 10 year old Mason had to compete with kids across 13 states and up to 18 years of age with 60-72 participants per class. Mason and Chunky far surpassed our expectations, earning a top 10 in horsemanship, Top 5 in trail. And after 4 splits, the judge picked the top 15 kids to come back to compete in the evening for western pleasure finals. Mason and Chunky had a beautiful go and were placed FIRST and Class Champions out of 60 kids!!!
To say I’m proud of these two would be an understatement. Mason, the amount of natural talent you have to ride is unbelievable. That paired with your hard work, riding almost every day has brought you here. I push you to be better, but I promise you do the same for me. This success would not have been possible without such an amazing team we have built.
Thanks to Grand Oaks and the entire staff for providing such an amazing facility to train out of. Ryan, without you, there would be none of this. Your selflessness and your drive makes me strive to be better every single day. Myself, nor this business would be what it is without you.
Merry Sharp, without your giving heart, none of this would have been possible. For you to allow this family the chance to have such an amazing animal, at a time their life when so much hope was lost speaks volumes of your character. And you literally gave Keri a third and favorite son πŸ˜†β™₯️
And to the entire Sredl family, it has been such a highlight in my life to work so closely with you, and to become my closest friends/family. Braden thank you so much for helping working so hard at the barn, and it has been such a pleasure watching you make your way into roping, I see so much success in your future. Your work ethic is unmatched and unbelievable for someone so young. Ricky, to watch your dedication not only as a father, but to your craft as a farrier has been an honor. You are teaching these boys that hard work yields success, not only with words but by example.
Last but certainly not least, Keri, your dedication to our business, your boys, and to Chunky is so unbelievably admirable. You work tirelessly for the well being of your boys, Chunky, and for the business. There is not even a word in the English language to express my gratitude β™₯️
Cheers to the end of an amazing show season, and many more to come.
