Parents, let your sons and daughters grow up to be cowboys and cowgirls.

They will learn quickly and repeatedly that life isn’t fair, that hard work is often trumped by Lady Luck, and that every defeat, no matter how terrible, is temporary. Let them dream big and kick on. Let them learn confidence, grace and grit. Let them build big muscles and strong backs.

Let them grow up in the barn. Let them learn that buckets always need filling and stalls need cleaning, even when it’s raining, even when it’s frozen, even when they have a different idea for how the day should go.

Teach them to drive trucks, trailers and ATVs. Teach them to change tires, wrap legs and give shots. When they leave a spur mark, or a bit rub, or a bandage bow, let them deal with the set back as it will only teach them patience and to build back up again with care.

Let them grow up with horses and with good horse people, because it will teach them to be humble, to be resilient, and to be brave. ā™„ļø

This is a message sent to all clients who practice lessons at Seacrest. At this time, if you currently have a scheduled lesson on Wednesday, March 25th or Thursday, March 26th, your lesson remains scheduled. If you do not, we will be re-open on April 13th to resume our normal lesson schedules. Once we re open, you still have the same lesson slots booked that you have had! So don’t worry about losing your spot.

During this time, our school horses will enjoy the time off and get routine maintenance and vet care done. We are ā€œessentialā€ as an agriculture / livestock business and we can remain open, however, we can only come to care for the horses, and boarders are the only individuals authorized to come to care and exercise their horses. If you do not own or lease a horse at Seacrest, we will see you on the 13th to pick back up on lessons 🄰 thank you all for your understanding and support! Stay healthy, we will see you on the other side! šŸ¤šŸ™šŸ»

March 18, 2020:

We at Seacrest Equestrian want to take this time to provide an update regarding how our business is responding to the current events surrounding the COVID-19 virus. We realize there is a great deal of uncertainty and things are changing constantly.

What we know is that you won’t spread the virus to your horse and your horse can’t give it to you. Many farms have shut their doors in order to best protect the health of staff and its residents. Horses still need to be fed, cleaned, groomed, and exercised. We understand that during this stressful time our boarders and student’s mental health and wellbeing is important. We realize that you want to spend time outside and visit your favorite ponies!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the spread can be prevented with social distancing and proper hygiene practices.

In order to accomplish social distancing at Seacrest we are trying to limit the number of people at the farm at one time. We have one groom per AM / PM shift. Trainers are taking turns scheduling lessons at times that do not conflict with more than one to two persons in the arena having a lesson at one time. This should allow for plenty of space in and around the farm. Boarders are welcome to come anytime of course but please limit your time to about 2 hours. It should give you plenty of time for tacking, lessons, riding, and some quality time with your horse. Yes, lessons will continue for the sake of keeping you guys sane while at home on a long term spring break!! ā˜ŗļø

I know Seacrest is a fun place to socialize and hang out but if you wish us to keep our doors open, I need to ask you to leave extra spectators and visitors at home. If extra family members must join you, please keep them in the car or in the open air outside of the barn space. Be quick in the tack rooms and spend minimal time in the aisles and grooming stalls. Remember we have been asked to maintain 6 feet of distance between each other. Tack up on opposite ends of the barn and socialize while you are hacking in the open air. Please do not arrive at farm to inquire about starting lessons or ask to see our horses at this time. If needed, please contact is via Facebook message or phone to inquire and we will be happy to help!

We ask that you bring wipes and hand sanitizer if you can! PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED OR ARE SICK until you can confirm either way. Our biggest concern is one of our trainers who is in her 60’s and the landlord’s grandmother that lives at the home on property. Please do your best to keep your distance.

For our part we are doing our best to keep staff healthy in order to best care for your animal. We are tracking food sources for your animals and have confirmed shipments from our local feed store that intend to remain open and have no intention of closing or stopping shipments. We will be cleaning all common spaces on a regular basis. In the event we have to completely close, i will personally be tending to the horses each day and can remain on property. Do not worry about the care of your animals, we will continue to care for them with the highest quality. We will be attempting to maintain a healthy social distance. Everyone’s safety is a priority and it is a shared responsibility for all of us.

All outside activities such as horse shows both local and rated have been canceled/ postponed until April 17. We will continue to monitor the situation and update as is required.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Yours truly,

Alexa.
