Hey Sullivan area!!! Tomahawk Honey Farms will be having its summer sale tomorrow, Sunday the 14th at Bomgaars from 1 to 6 PM!! Honey will be available in Pints for $15, quarts for $25, and the beloved Jumbo jar for $45! The weather is going to be a beauty! Stop on by for a jar, or let's talk about some bees!! NO QUEENS ALLOWED!!! Yes you read that right! It is the time of year when the hives get heavy! Very heavy! To ensure the queens don't lay eggs and brood in the honey boxes, a specialized screen called an excluder is added! The screen is perfect size to allow worker bees access to the honey boxes. However, the queen is simply too big to fit! Leaving her to attend duties strictly in the deep brood boxes at the bottom. This ensures the best product possible for our customers! ❄️ 🧊 🐝 🙏 Hope everyone stays safe in this weather! The bees are huddled together and shivering to produce heat! Tonight they will REALLY be shaking it down! 🕺 💃 Snow removal at the entrance is common practice among some beekeepers. If left to thaw and refreeze into ice, air cannot travel through some say. To stay on the side of caution I prefer to remove it. Hope it helps the lady's!! Stay warm folks!!
