Aster everywhere!!! The past few weeks have been a very neat experience here at the farm, watching all of the species that congregate to these beautiful blooms! The monarchs stopped by for a boost as they made their way to Mexico! And the bees continue to put on weight as winter approaches. Frost aster and Drummond aster are very important late season food sources for most pollinators!

NO QUEENS ALLOWED!!! Yes you read that right! It is the time of year when the hives get heavy! Very heavy! To ensure the queens don't lay eggs and brood in the honey boxes, a specialized screen called an excluder is added! The screen is perfect size to allow worker bees access to the honey boxes. However, the queen is simply too big to fit! Leaving her to attend duties strictly in the deep brood boxes at the bottom. This ensures the best product possible for our customers! Be on the lookout for our honey sale announcement as well!
