Ever want to know what your dog’s leg/knee looks like after an ACL repair?!

Here’s one of our patients 8 weeks post op with perfect healing!

🦴 TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy), a plate is used to stabilize the cut bone in the tibia (shin bone) and maintain the new angle of the tibial plateau after it has been rotated to counteract the instability caused by a torn cruciate ligament! 🦴

WE GET IT!! Sometimes our pets are a little smarter than us and hiding their medicine in their food doesn’t work 😩

Here is a helpful tip if you’re having to resort to just “shoving it down” to ensure your pet gets their medicine.

Another helpful tip that wasn’t shown here, is if the pet is holding their breath or not wanting to swallow, you can blow on their nose or rub on their throat to stimulate a swallow.

Want to know how to give your cats eye medications?! Here’s a helpful tip 💡

Kitties tend to like tight places. This is why they like tunnels and small boxes when they go to hide or sleep. Creating a “kitty burrito” can help them feel a little more comfortable during the treatment experience.

Because they can be wiggly (they don’t understand why we are doing what we’re doing - helping them), they tend to want to move away. Holding them tight to your body can be helpful for light restraint so you can do what you need to do quickly.

It is important to ensure that the medication goes INSIDE the eye, but to not touch the applicator piece on the eye itself. Using your opposite hand as a guide to help open the eye can help with this!
