First thing to do is to . Do you live in a Storm Surge Evacuation Zone (area)? Find out by visiting www.martin.fl.us/Readiness and locating your home on the map.

- Zone AB (red): includes the barrier islands and most low-lying areas along the coast. These areas are likely to be inundated by storm surge of up to 6 feet. The zones progress inland as you get further from the coast and higher in elevation.
- Zone CD (yellow): is likely to be inundated by storm surge of up to 13 feet.
- Zone E (blue): is likely to be inundated by storm surge of up to 16 feet.

We are aware of a social media post circulating about a recent visit to our hospital. Situations involving injured pets are understandably emotional and stressful for everyone involved, and we always strive to provide the best care possible in very difficult circumstances.

However, we can assure our community that our doctors and staff follow thorough medical protocols and always present treatment options based on their professional medical assessment and concern for the animal’s wellbeing.

Emergency situations can evolve quickly and be emotionally charged, but recommendations are made based on the information available at the time of examination. We understand that owners may choose to pursue a second opinion, and we fully support pet owners making the decisions they feel are best for their animals.

Our team works every day to help animals in crisis, often under very stressful and challenging conditions for the owners, and we stand behind the professionalism and dedication of our staff as well as our doctor’s assessments.

We have been seeing an increase in male cats that are blocked. It is really important to know the early signs and seek treatment. This condition is a life threatening situation and waiting too long or left untreated can cause death.
