New Lease on Life Rescue accepts dogs, cats, rabbits, small furry animals and birds who can no longer stay in their current homes or are facing euthanasia in local shelters. All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to going home with new families.

They don't match their mama at all, but they're still incredibly adorable. Huey, Dewey and Louie obviously take after their father, a Black Lab.

Mama is NOT available for adoption. This litter came through the Better Beginnings program for mamas and babies. The pups get to come to the shelter to be fully vetted and find new homes. And mama received a free spay (paid for by the shelter) then returned to her family.

The boys are 3 months old and expected to be around 55 pounds full grown.

Last month, two young ladies brought this little guy in. He was even smaller then.

They were at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds when a man pulled his truck in. From the rear pf the truck, they could hear a loud MEOW!

After a search, this little kitten was discovered huddled under a spare tire so they name him...... Spare!

He wasn't old enough to be adopted at the time, so he's spent the last rew weeks in foster care getting spoiled. But now he's back at the shelter and ready for a home of his own.

People often tell us that they believe shelters and rescues receive free vet care. Nothing could be farther from the truth! We pay the same as you when we walk into a vet's office.

Today, we took 7 cats and 5 dogs to the vet for their spay/neuters, including this sweet girl who is going through the Better Beginnings program. She is NOT available for adoption because she is a mama who is receiving a free spay (free for her owners, the shelter pays) so she will never have puppies again. Stay tuned later for pics of her baby boys.

These are just the outstanding spay/neuter bills from the last three weeks, not counting today's bill.

UPDATE: KID HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Another new arrival.... Kid is a 3 month old Australian Shepherd mix, but he's not part of the Aussie group we posted last week. This boy came in all by himself from a county shelter.

We don't know anything about his background or parents, so there's no way to tell what else might be mixed in there. Based on his current size/weight, we're estimating his adult weight around 60 pounds.

Their brother was so cute he got adopted the instant he walked into the shelter. Now it's time for his sisters to find their forever homes!

Normally we have to study markings and colors to try to guess what breeds might be hidden in a puppy's dna, but for these pups, we actually know since their former owners had both parents.

Mama was a Beagle. Daddy was a Norwegian Elkhound. But obviously the pups take after Mom more for their looks. We're expecting them to be around 30 to 40 pounds full grown.

And one pup has a secret that you might not notice at first glance. Trixie only has 3 legs! Well, technically 3.1. because she has a teeny tiny nub of a leg no bigger than your thumbnail for a front leg. But she gets around just fine and has no problem keeping up with her siblings.
