Recent events have been heavy on many of our hearts in the grooming community.

In this industry, we are trusted with more than just grooming — we are trusted with someone’s family.

Being a dog groomer is not just about making pets look good. It’s about knowing how to keep them safe in an environment that can sometimes be stressful, unpredictable, and even dangerous if proper precautions aren’t taken. Staying up to date on safety protocols isn’t optional — it’s a responsibility. Every groomer should be educated in pet CPR and pet first aid, because emergencies can happen quickly, and those first moments matter more than anything.

But beyond certifications and training, it comes down to how we view the dogs in our care. Every single dog should be treated as if it were your own — with patience, compassion, and full attention to their comfort and limits. To most people, dogs are not “just pets” — they are like children, deeply loved and irreplaceable.

As pet owners, please take the time to research who you trust with your dog. Read reviews, ask questions about safety procedures, and make sure your groomer is properly trained and prepared, and PATIENT. Your dog deserves nothing less.

We owe it to them, and to the families who trust us, to do better every single day.
