I’ve been struggling with whether or not to share this, but these dogs need people to know about them.
Recently, I came across the story of 36 dogs who were rescued from an unimaginable situation after living for years in severe neglect. I’m intentionally not sharing the photographs. They are incredibly difficult to look at, and I don’t believe anyone needs to see them to understand that these dogs have been through more than they ever should have.
What struck me most wasn’t anger. It was sadness.
There is a human story behind this situation too—one involving severe mental illness, addiction, isolation, and someone who clearly needed help long before things reached this point. I don’t want this post to be about condemning her. I don’t know her story, and I don’t believe cruelty or judgment toward a person helps these dogs now.
What matters today is that 36 dogs survived.
They are now in the care of people who are working to give them medical attention, safety, food, clean surroundings, and something many of them have probably never truly known: comfort.
And that takes an enormous amount of resources.

They have already survived the worst part. Now they deserve the chance to discover what the rest of their lives can be.
