I wanted to make a public announcement on the page and will be copying and pasting to our happening now group for those that don't follow us on this page, but keep an eye out on there for my posts.
In my 3 years of running this business I've come across a few scammers, and some who are very precise on making sure they don't give themselves away and are very dedicated to the long term if needed. In the past I've had scammers book months in advance, send checks before a meet and greet, and demand I deposit them before seeing them in person. I don't mind if a check is being mailed and gets to me before a meet and greet, but I make my potential clients aware it will be put away in a safe locked space and will not be deposited before a meet and greet occurs for both of ours safety and security.
I have had my bank account hacked by a scammer doing something similar to this because they needed assistance with another thing regarding pet sitting and money, so I agreed to deposit a day in advance before our meet and greet time. In the end I was able to have my bank lock everything before they could do anything, but now for everyone's best interest the check gets put away if it comes early if the potential client chooses to send it in the mail and gets brought with to our meet and greet if unfortunately things don't work out for everyone, so they get handed the check back over so they can void it.
