When we breed Fig in the next couple of years, we will be following the American Sloughi Association's Code of Ethics. 💜 She had her first eye exam at the Sloughi National two weeks ago and passed with flying colors!

I have a brief update for those of you who have applied or would like to apply for a Haven puppy!

I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your interest. As a first-time breeder, I'm deeply touched by how many people have expressed a desire not only to consider adding a Windsprite to their families, but who specifically want to bring home one of Haven's pups. Thank you.

To clarify the application process a bit, Haven is co-owned by myself and Tricia Lehman Conklin of Aurai Sighthounds. Her first breeding will be a collaboration between our two kennels. As such, applications this time around will go through Aurai, after which Tricia and I will review them together. If you have filled out my Future Friends Form, expressing general interest in following my breeding program, please note that you will also need to fill out a detailed application through Aurai as well.

That said... At present, we are taking a brief hiatus from the selection process while the dust settles following some big life changes. For now, we ask that folks please be patient with us. If you haven't heard back just yet, hang tight. We will let y'all know when we're ready to resume reviewing applications.

The Up North Disc Dogs crew did a little dress-up for our final disc league night of the year. We'll have an end of year gathering in mid-November to celebrate and then we'll begin counting down the days until spring!

Wow. 🥹 When I received this picture from Caitlin Gumney Photography the other night, I got a little bit misty-eyed.

Our first Midwest Windsprites meetup was in 2023. Five people and their four Windsprites gathered in the basement of The Companion Shop, a cute little local mom'n'pop pet shop in our Central Wisconsin town. Then, in 2024, the Wisconsin crew traveled to meet up with our westernmost community members in Iowa, increasing our number to six people and five Windsprites. When we gathered in Minnesota in 2025, we reached seven people and six Windsprites. For the last three years, our numbers for each formal meetup grew by just one human and one dog... Slow, but steady!

Well, not this year! 😊 The growth we've seen in the Midwest region in 2026 has been truly incredible. Last weekend, we had more than TRIPLE the numbers of our first get-together three years ago, with about 20 people and 15 Windsprites!

I'm so proud of our little microcosm of the wider Windsprite world. It's been so wonderful to watch this group grow into something that feels so genuinely warm and welcoming.
