Today is a day to celebrate shelter pets. Shelters are full of great companions just waiting to be adopted and loved. If you have adopted a shelter pet yourself, we’d love to see them. Post their photo in the comments below. If you’d like to donate to your local shelter, here’s a helpful link:

Thanksgiving is about good food, good company and good pets. You may want to give your furry friend a taste of something that’s on your plate, but it’s a good idea to make sure it’s safe for them to eat first. Luckily, we’ve made a list of holiday foods to enjoy (yum!) and holiday foods to avoid (no-no!) for your pet.

LOST DOG!

This big guy was found wandering this morning on the Sterling side of the bridge down by Alden Road. He was very sweet to the people that stopped for him and wanted to follow their car, it seemed like he was wandering around lost. If you or someone you know recognizes him please contact the clinic at 620-278-3623 and we can hopefully direct you to where he is now!

Another successful TNR day at AVC! This time we had a total of 32 cats from Little River, Lyons, and Sterling that we spayed/neutered, ear notched, tattooed, and Rabies vaccinated. Working hard to try and reduce the overwhelming cat populations in several of our communities in Rice County. Our vets and techs donated their time Saturday morning to help make this a very successful event that we hope to continue every few months. Special thanks to Kelsey Decker with Meow Menders TNR and all those who helped trap them and return them to their original locations. If you have feral cats in your area of Rice County that need fixed, or would like to donate to the cause, please check out Meow Menders TNR page! Meow Menders TNR

It’s National Pet Diabetes Month and we’re here to help you spot the symptoms of diabetes both early on and at a later stage. It is estimated that 1 in 300 dogs and 1 in 230 cats in the US have diabetes, so it’s important to be informed in case your pet is at risk. If your pet is showing symptoms, be sure to visit your vet.
