Today our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. πŸ’šπŸ΄

To everyone at Peoples Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, thank you for believing in our mission and investing in the lives of those we serve. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on our participants, families, and community for years to come.

We are honored to do this work, humbled by your support, and excited for all that lies ahead. Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us continue to share hopeβ€”one horse, one heart, one life at a time. πŸ΄πŸ’š

Some of the most powerful healing begins with hopeβ€”and sometimes, a horse. πŸ’šπŸ΄
We're honored to partner with FHLB Des Moines to award a $40,000 Member Impact Fund grant to Power of Hope Equestrian Center, helping expand therapeutic equine-assisted services for children and adults facing physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
Through the healing connection between horses and people, Power of Hope is building confidence, encouraging independence, and inspiring hope every day. We're proud to support their mission and the lives they're changing throughout our communities.
Congratulations, Power of Hope! Thank you for making such a meaningful difference. πŸ’š

He came back from his second tour with the kind of hypervigilance that made grocery stores impossible. Loud noises, unexpected movement, crowds β€” the nervous system doesn't distinguish between a war zone and a parking lot, and his spent eighteen months treating everything as equally dangerous. He wasn't sleeping. He wasn't talking. He was managing, which is different.
His VA counselor suggested equine therapy. He said no. She waited six months and suggested it again. He said fine, once, to get her to stop suggesting it.
The first session, they just groomed the horse. No riding β€” grooming. The therapist explained that horses are present-moment animals. They aren't worried about what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow. They respond to right now. He was asked to see if he could meet the horse where the horse was.
He didn't say anything about it after the first session. He came back the following week without being asked.
He's been going for two years. He still has hypervigilance. He still has hard days. But he has one hour a week where something requires him to be completely present, and that thing is calmer when he is calmer, and that hour became the one he holds onto when the others are difficult.

What does presence feel like for you?

πŸ’™ Happy Parent Appreciation Day! πŸ’™

Today, we're celebrating the incredible parents and caregivers who make it all possible.

Thank you for making the drive to the barn, fitting lessons and camps into your busy schedules, and giving your children the opportunity to grow, heal, and thrive through horses. Whether they're here to build confidence, participate in therapeutic riding, learn new horsemanship skills, or simply experience the joy of camp, none of it would be possible without your dedication.

Your commitment opens the door to new experiences, lifelong memories, and countless moments of courage, connection, and growth.

From all of us at Power of Hope, thank you for trusting us to be part of your family's journey. We appreciate you more than words can say. ❀️🐴
