PET FOOD RECALL SOLD IN VA.
Raaw Energy is voluntarily notifying the public of a recall involving products produced between 7/17/25 and 12/23/25 due to possible Listeria contamination. Another batch date is 3.31.26 Beef and Turkey Medley. While not all products from this period tested positive, this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution. Some products produced during this timeframe were not tested, and bacterial presence was identified during the same period. As a result, products manufactured within these dates could possibly be affected.

Listeria monocytogenes can be exposed to the pathogen through consumption of contaminated food. People can be exposed to this pathogen through multiple routes such as contact with surfaces that have touched contaminated food, such as bowls, utensils, or countertops. Risk of human illness from Listeria monocytogenes contaminated pet food increases if people do not thoroughly wash their hands after handling the food or having contact with their pet, or by not thoroughly cleaning contaminated surfaces.

Infected humans may display symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, fever, and lethargy. Severe infections can result in meningitis, abortion, and death. Pets exposed to contaminated food can be infected without showing symptoms. Infected pets, even if they do not show symptoms, can act as carriers and transfer Listeria monocytogenes through their f***s and saliva.

Belated Happy Veterinary Assistant Day to Ashlyn!
A great kennel attendant with a heart for every animal, she truly can’t pick just one favorite. She loves all the seasons too: spring for her birthday, summer for adventures, fall for the views, and winter for the holidays, but time with family is her favorite part of all.
What she loves most about her work is making a difference, giving back, and building genuine connections with each patient. Earning their trust is everything, and it shows every day.
We may be celebrating a little late, but we appreciate you Ashlyn!

We are so proud to celebrate Lucy and this amazing milestone. From kennel crew to veterinary assistant, and now officially a Licensed Veterinary Technician, Lucy’s journey has been full of hard work, heart, and determination. After graduating from Blue Ridge Community College and passing the Veterinary Technician National Examination, she’s reached a goal she’s truly earned. We’ve loved watching her grow, and we’re so grateful to have her as part of our team. Please join us in congratulating Lucy on this exciting next chapter.

Hailie starts every day the right way, with music! It’s a must to get her energized and ready to care for our patients. What she loves most about working at Westwood is how meaningful each day feels. From hands-on care to supporting the people who love their animals, Hailie finds it all rewarding. She especially enjoys building bonds, not just with the animals, but with their owners too. And if you ask her favorite animal? She’ll tell you she can’t pick just one! Hailie believes every animal is special in its own way, whether it’s a horse, dog, cat, farm animal, or even wildlife.

Meet Carol, one of our amazing kennel attendants! 🐾
Carol has a special love for wolves, she thinks they’re absolutely marvelous, and honestly, we get it! When she’s not admiring wildlife, she enjoys all the seasons (yes, even the unpredictable ones!). Her favorite part of the job? Helping animals feel safe, cared for, and loved every single day. She also loves being part of a team with such great coworkers, because caring for pets is always better together.
We’re so lucky to have Carol as part of our crew! 💙

Their hard work, compassion, and dedication ensure every patient receives the care and comfort they deserve. We are truly grateful for their commitment and the steady, reliable support they bring to our team. Our hospital would not be the same without them.

Meet Emily! She's our newest teammate in our large animal office.
If you hear the bass before you walk in, that’s probably Emily. Music is her daily must-have, and she brings that same energy to every client and pet she meets. Making those connections is her favorite part of the job—and it shows!
When she’s not in the barn office, you’ll find her at car shows, audio competitions, or enjoying some quiet time outdoors. She’s also great at reading people and picking up on vibes almost instantly.
Fun fact: she loves Highland cattle for their calm, gentle nature (and adorable looks) and Bulldogs, because she has three of them herself, so how could she not choose such a cute dog? Fall is her favorite season—think hoodies, bonfires, and camping trips.
