Finding loving homes for NE Floridas high risk shelter dogs

🚨 URGENT: FOSTERS NEEDED FOR TWO 6-MONTH-OLD PUPPIES 🚨

There’s a critical situation at the shelter. We recently learned These two sweet 6-month-old puppies have been suffering from diarrhea for TWO WEEKS.

They have recently been diagnoses with Coccidia — it is NOT contagious to humans or cats. It can spread to other dogs through ingested eggs from f***s.

Why isn’t the shelter treating them right now?
In a shelter setting, these puppies are continuously exposed and re-infect themselves, making it very difficult to break the cycle.

To recover, they need to get into a clean, controlled environment where they can start medication, have their paws/fur kept clean, and stay away from contaminated ground.

What happens if no one comes for them?
Two weeks of ongoing diarrhea puts them at serious risk of dehydration and becoming critically ill. They cannot continue like this.

What they need to leave:
• Fosters
• Medication — provided
• Immediate p**p pickup and strict sanitation
• Paws/fur kept clean
• Separation from other dogs until they receive a clean f***l test

Again: **Coccidia is NOT contagious to humans or cats from the puppies. **

These puppies need out of the shelter so they can finally start recovering.

With appropriate treatment and a clean environment, we’d hope to see the diarrhea start improving within about 24–48 hours, though it may take several days for stools to become normal
Luna and Comet are only 6 months old and under 25lbs. Their chance to get better depends on getting out. Please share and let us know if you can help us help them.

Timber & Ed have been selected for a very important job: announcing the winners of our Fall Raffle from the Ponte Vedra Friday Farmers Market.

These two adoptable seniors did not attend the market last week but are still seeking their forever homes! They have reached the stage of life where crowded events, small talk, and unnecessary excitement aren’t their idea of a good time.

Timber and Ed are much more interested in the important things: a comfy couch, a good sniff around the yard, snacks on schedule, and a forever family willing to let them enjoy retirement at their own pace.

So while they skipped the market, they were more than happy to step in for the fun part…announcing the winners!

Thank you to everyone who donated and supported Coastal Canine Rescue! We were able to raise $540 for the rescue, meet some foster-curious families, and enjoy the beautiful setting of Palm Valley Outdoors!

We had such a great day — and absolutely beautiful weather — at the Ponte Vedra Friday Farmers Market yesterday!

Blue was taking names and treats at the raffle table, Mira was handing out kisses to everyone, Sally kept every child at the market entertained, and our sweet Rain got some good socializing, whether she was excited about it or not. 🤭

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us and love on the pups. We were able to raise some money for the rescue, connect with some foster-curious families, and most importantly, our dogs got SO much love and attention.

A special thank you to Brooke Getter Stacey for coming out and capturing some gorgeous photos of our pups! 📸🐾 and to all the vendors who contributed to the raffles!

Sally & Jack have had enough scary for one Halloween. 🖤🎃

I met these two sweet babies over the weekend after transporting dogs from an event. One little puppy was cowering in the corner, but when I knelt down, he came right over. That’s when I spotted the other baby shaking under the bed.

They were scared enough to hide, but still hopeful enough to wag.

I stayed longer than I was supposed to, and it crushed me that I couldn’t take them that day.

My week was already ridiculously full, so I did the only thing I could: I took pictures and video, then shared what I saw in hopes that someone could help them.

Almost immediately after they were posted to the Friends of Bradford County Animal Services page, I got a text from Jasmine, one of my rockstar regular fosters, and a brand-new foster—her colleague Jenny and one of our past adopters 🥹

They could take the puppies!

Transport was arranged, Bryan took a drive instead of lunch break, a vet visit squeezed in, and somehow the foster handoff crossed paths perfectly with Brooke Getter Stacey , who captured the sweetest photos of their first moments of freedom.

Funny how much you can fit into time you were absolutely certain you didn’t have.

These babies are safe, happy, and all wiggles now.

None of this happens because of one person.

It happens because someone fosters.
Someone says yes.
Someone drives.
Someone rearranges their day.
Someone takes the pictures.
Someone shares the post.

Sally & Jack are safe because a whole little village showed up for them. 🖤🎃

And I’d say that’s a pretty good way to start their story.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is your sign.

Fostering saves lives, and every rescue story starts with someone saying yes. Thank you to our fosters who say yes time and time again and to the new ones who open their homes and take a chance.

Somehow, our sweet little Rain is STILL looking for her family 🤍

So while we wait for the right person to find her, Rain would like to make her list of requirements very clear!

🐾 A confident doggy sibling — preferably one willing to play with , chase, bark at, wrestle, nibble, snuggle… and occasionally be sat on.

💦 Lots of toys + a kiddie pool. This girl loves to play and LOVES the water!

🌿 A backyard for potty breaks because Rain is officially HOUSE TRAINED 🙌

🤍 Adopters who understand that new things can still feel a little scary, but with patience, love, and a dog friend showing her the ropes, she will open up and show you how special she is!

⏰ And lastly someone with enough time in their schedule for all the fun, work, chaos, and cuddles that come with adopting a 4-month-old puppy!

basically Rain isn’t asking for much.

Just a dog best friend, her own pool, a yard, unlimited toys, patient humans, and all your free time 😂

Introducing Blue 💙

Blue had been sitting at our local shelter since February. It was brought to our attention by the volunteers there that she was out of time.

There was no behavior decline in Blue. She wasn’t suffering from excessive kennel stress. She was still on the adoption floor. She was a staff and volunteer favorite. There were open kennels. She was simply a great dog no one had come for — and she wasn’t going to have a chance if she didn’t leave soon.

This is a shelter that doesn’t use words like “urgent”, There are no official deadline pleas despite having one of the worst euthanasia rates in the state…one day the dog you love on is just no longer available….So we went to meet her.

The dog we met that day was the sweetest, happiest, most playful girl. She was social, incredibly affectionate, and so genuinely happy to be with us that the decision was easy.

Blue left the shelter with us that day

Blue’s ears and skin immediately raised some concerns, so our first stop was the vet. She had one of the worst infections in BOTH ears that I’ve seen in a long time, along with her irritated skin. Thankfully, we were able to get her seen and started on treatment that same day, and both have quickly resolved over the last week of care with Cassidy.

Since arriving, Blue has settled in beautifully! A little more about her:

• 3 years old
• 55 lbs
• Happy, playful + incredibly affectionate
• Social and loves being with her people
• House trained
• Crate trained
• Has done well meeting and interacting with other dogs

She’s had the chance to decompress, feel better, and thanks to a sponsorship from the Friends of organization, she’s receiving some training during her stay with Cassidy | Dog Trainer that will transfer with her into her forever home.

Welcome to Coastal, Blue 💙 Your time may have run out at the shelter, but your story was never supposed to end there.

We know there’s an amazing family out there who is going to be very lucky to call you theirs!

A shelter label told one story. Ricky got the chance to write another. 🤍

Ricky was suffering from kennel stress at our local shelter. He was pulled from the adoption floor, deemed rescue-only, and given very little time to make it out.

Then volunteers stepped up with a plea. A plan was made. We took the chance.

And Ricky turned out to be one of the best dogs we’ve ever had the privilege of rescuing.

Gentle, loving, and with a heart of absolute gold, Ricky just needed to leave the shelter and find a place where he could finally breathe. As a foster based rescue finding a place for them to go is usually the biggest hurdle. Fosters save lives and the truth is we don’t have enough of them.

Without Cassidy, the list of dogs I would have had to say no to is unimaginable. She provides a safe, nurturing landing place where these dogs can decompress and show us who they truly are.

Some come as fosters. Some come for board and train. And some come that may never leave. But they all come for the same reason . Together we weigh the possible outcomes and decide they deserved the chance.

And today, we’re so happy to say that Ricky is HOME! 🤍

He has a family who absolutely adores him, a doggy brother to share his life with, and daily walks at their favorite park.

And lucky me, that happens to be the same park I walk, which means I get to spot Ricky living his best life from afar.

From a distance, unfortunately, because my own dog isn’t always convinced that every dog should get to be her friend….They can’t all be Rickys 🤣

But getting to see him happy, loved, and exactly where he belongs is such a special reminder of why we put so much into what we do.

Sweet boy, you’ve joined so many others on the list of the best chances we’ve ever taken.

All too often, the dog you meet in a shelter isn’t the dog you’ll meet once they know they’re safe.

Happy life, Ricky Boy. You were always worth the chance. 🤍
