Our buddy Henry has been patiently waiting to hear the words “You’re adopted!” and quite frankly, he’s starting to think everyone forgot to check their applications. Don’t worry, Henry. We’re confused too! 🤷‍♀️

At approximately 5 years old and a perfectly portable 32 lbs, Henry is the kind of dog who fits into just about every lifestyle. Sure, he only has one eye after having surgery to remove a troublesome one, but ask Henry about it and he’ll tell you it hasn’t slowed him down one bit. In fact, he seems completely unaware that he’s any different from his two-eyed canine counterparts.

Currently fostered in a multi-dog home, Henry enjoys a little bit of everything. A quick romp around the yard with his dog friends? Fantastic. Tossing around a toy by himself? Also fantastic. Stretching out in a sunny spot for a nap? You guessed it...fantastic! 👍

Whether you’re looking to add a canine sibling to your existing crew or searching for a one-and-only sidekick, Henry is happy to fill either role. He’s also a great match for homes with dog-savvy kids over 10, remote workers looking for a loyal office assistant, or empty nesters who miss hearing the click-clack of paws around the house.

His wishlist is pretty simple: snacks, walkies, a comfy place to nap, and a family to love. 💙

Henry is being fostered in Milford, and our adoption process moves lickity quick. We’re talking approved-within-24-hours quick. So if you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, you could be meeting, greeting, and falling head-over-heels for Henry before the week is over. 👏

Let’s not make this sweet one-eyed wonder wait any longer. Apply today and help Henry finally get the happily-ever-after he’s been waiting for! 👉 browndogcoalition.com/adoption

PLEASE stop scrolling for just a second and help us find Moxie the forever home she so desperately deserves. 🙏

4 year old Moxie joined BDC back in October 2024 after a local shelter contacted us because she had been brought in to be euthanized due to recurring UTIs. Yes, even here in Massachusetts, dogs lose their lives over medical issues that are manageable with the right care. 💔

When we saw that adorable face, saying yes was the easiest decision ever. What we didn’t expect? That months and months later, Moxie would still be waiting!

Since coming into rescue, we’ve invested countless hours, veterinary appointments, and dollars getting to the bottom of her urinary issues. The result? All Moxie needs is a special urinary diet and daily medication to keep her feeling her best. 👍

And you know what Moxie thinks about all that? Absolutely nothing. 🤪 She takes her meds like a champ, happily eats her food, and goes right back to enjoying life. Her future family will need to work closely with their vet to continue monitoring her health, but otherwise Moxie is living the normal, happy life every dog deserves.

At around 26 pounds, this Boston Terrier/Bichon Frise mix is the perfect medium-sized sidekick. She adores people, loves attention, and is fully prepared to soak up every ounce of love her humans are willing to give. 🧡

Her only request? She’d like to be the queen of her castle and the only animal in the home.

That’s it. No impossible wishlist. No outrageous demands. Just a sweet, loving dog who almost lost her life and is still waiting for someone to choose her.

Please help us spread the word. Share this post. Tag your friends. Tell your coworkers. Mention her to your neighbor who has been talking about getting a dog! ➡️ browndogcoalition.com/adoption

Over the last month, 22 lucky pups packed their bags and headed off to forever homes— including Sebastian, who was just hours away from having to go into boarding before our incredible community rallied together and helped his future family find him. Talk about a last-minute plot twist! 🫶

And the good news doesn’t stop there. 13 cats also found loving homes of their own, bringing our monthly total to 35 animals who no longer have to wonder where they belong.

As a 100% foster-based rescue, there are days when the need feels bigger than the available resources. Days when we’re juggling foster pleas, adoption applications, transport schedules, and a whole lot of everything in between. But then we look at these faces. We see the happy tails, the cozy couches, the family photos, and the “we can’t imagine life without them” updates. And just like that, we’re reminded why we keep showing up.

Every foster home matters. Every share matters. Every adoption matters. Most importantly, every single one of these animals matters. 🧡

We need to have a little chat about some of the most overlooked pups in rescue. For reasons we will never fully understand, black dogs often wait longer for homes than dogs with other colored coats. And unfortunately, we’re seeing it happen right now with several of our own adoptables. 💔

These sweet boys and girls are being passed over time and time again—not because of their personalities, not because they’re not amazing companions, but simply because of the color of their fur. Meanwhile, these pups are over here being adorable, learning new skills, collecting gold-star foster reviews, and patiently waiting for someone to notice them!

Whether you’re looking for a tiny 3-month-old troublemaker who specializes in puppy shenanigans, an active adventure buddy, or a well-adjusted adult who already has life mostly figured out, we’ve got a whole lineup of black-coated beauties hoping their forever family is scrolling by today.

And trust us—once you’ve loved a black dog, you’ll wonder why everyone isn’t lining up to adopt them!

Ready to meet your match? Check out all our available dogs and help us show these deserving pups that being overlooked doesn’t last forever. 💻 browndogcoalition.com/adoptable

Meet Fritter—a pint-size package of personality who is supposedly 13 years old. Although if you ask us, we’re not entirely convinced! This little guy still has plenty of pep in his step and seems determined to prove that age is just a number. 😉

At just 11 pounds, Fritter is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a small adult dog with a BIG personality. He’s active, fun-loving, a little feisty, and definitely likes to keep life interesting. Whether he’s exploring, hanging out with his dog friends, or curling up for snuggles, Fritter is all in.

And speaking of snuggles? This guy is an Olympic-level cuddler. He’ll happily curl up next to you and give hugs like he’s worried you might disappear if he lets go. 🥹

Fritter gets along well with other small dogs but he is also perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog. Bigger dogs, however? Hard pass. Fritter prefers friends who are a little closer to his own stature. He could also join a home with dog-savvy kids 10+. 👍

As for cats: Fritter has made it very clear that he considers them foes, not friends, so a feline-free home is a must. 🙅

Currently being fostered in Worcester, Fritter is ready to pack his bags and head home with his forever family as early as this weekend. 🧳 If you’ve been searching for a tiny sidekick with a huge heart, this little guy is ready to meet you.

Apply today before someone else scoops up this pocket-sized best friend! ❤️ browndogcoalition.com/adoption

⭐ Sebastian is now all set! ⭐ Thank you everyone for your overwhelming response!

We truly cannot believe we’re typing this right now, but poor Sebastian is heading to boarding tomorrow (Saturday, May 30) because we haven’t had a single Massachusetts-based foster step up for him. And honestly? Our hearts are breaking for this sweet floofy boy. 💔

Instead of spending his days stretched out on a cozy dog bed, collecting sticks in the yard, and enjoying plenty of playtime, Sebastian will be trading all of that in for a loud, stressful shelter kennel. Cement floors. Barking dogs. So much uncertainty for a pup who has done absolutely nothing wrong. 🥺

And the wildest part? Sebastian is SUCH a happy-go-lucky dude. He’s still very much a puppy at around a year old, but he’s been working super hard on all of his important life skills and he is one smart cookie to boot.

A few important “Sebastian facts” for anyone considering fostering:
✨ Around 40 lbs under all that glorious floof and likely won’t get much bigger
✨ LOVES other dogs…maybe a little too enthusiastically sometimes so he would do best with playful dog friends who can match his energy (smaller or super mellow pups do not appreciate his “LET’S PARTY” approach to friendship)
✨ Hasn’t lived with kids yet, but older, dog-savvy kiddos would likely be just fine
✨ No cats, please!

We know opening your heart and home to a dog in need is a huge ask. But boarding is hard on dogs—especially young, social, goofy ones like Sebastian who just want love, enrichment, and companionship.

If you’ve been on the fence about fostering, PLEASE consider helping ensure Sebastian doesn’t end up in boarding! ➡️ browndogcoalition.com/foster

If your resident dog has been dropping subtle hints that they’re ready for a built-in bestie, allow us to introduce the solution to all their problems: Dottie. 🐾

Seriously, we are BAFFLED that this girl is still waiting for her forever home. Dottie arrived in MA months ago and we were convinced she’d be scooped up in approximately 0.2 seconds. She’s compact, endlessly happy, obsessed with other dogs, and has the kind of joyful personality that makes you smile even before your morning coffee kicks in. We’re pretty sure Dottie wakes up every day thinking it’s the best day ever!

Now almost a year old, Dottie has settled beautifully into family dog life. She’s house trained, will absolutely never say no to zooming around the yard with her canine pals, and loves curling up with her foster family for TV time after a day of adventures. 🧡

This girl is looking for an active home with at least one playful pup who’s ready for a full-time sidekick. Hiking buddy? Dottie’s in. Backyard wrestling matches? Absolutely. Enrichment games and learning new things? Her little brain is READY. 💪

And while she adores dogs most of all, Dottie could also join a home with dog-savvy kiddos 10+ who understand that sometimes the best friendships come with four paws and a wagging tail.

Honestly, somewhere out there is a dog desperately waiting for their soulmate—they just don’t know her name is Dottie yet. If she sounds like the BFF your resident pup has been waiting for, submit the adoption app on our website today! 👉 browndogcoalition.com/adoption

Ummmmmm….where the heck are all of our cat adopters hiding lately?! 👀

Because right now, we have SEVERAL adorable, loving, personality-packed kitties right here in Massachusetts patiently waiting for their forever homes. And our cat adoption inbox has basically been crickets lately. 🥺

And the few applications that do come in? Somehow they keep not working out after approval for one reason or another due to no fault of the cat AT ALL. Talk about a total letdown. Good thing our adoptable feline friends can’t read emails or they’d be side-eyeing us HARD right now. 😅

Meanwhile, these cats are over here doing everything right:
✨ being cute
✨ perfecting their biscuit-making skills
✨ supervising foster parents from the countertops
✨ pretending they don’t want attention while secretly craving it
✨ waiting patiently for someone to finally choose them

We know our people are out there somewhere—maybe buried under a pile of laundry with a cat already sitting on top of it—but consider this your official sign to submit that application already!! 💻

Our cats are ready. Their foster families are ready. WE are ready. ➡️ browndogcoalition.com/cats

Calling all introverts, homebodies, and people who say “I’d rather stay in with my dog” every weekend…adoptable Sassy would like to submit her application for your heart! 🙋‍♀️

And despite the name? This little brindle babe is all sweetness, zero spice. No sass detected with this one!

At approximately 11 months old and just 15 lbs, Sassy is the perfect petite-sized companion for someone willing to help her continue building confidence and learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. In her foster home, she’s already making awesome progress with all of her important puppy life skills and has a really solid head start!

Because new environments can still feel overwhelming for her, we’d love to see Sassy land in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely explore, do her business, and continue practicing leash skills at her own pace. Leashed walks are still a bit spooky for this girlie, but with patience, consistency, and a loving human cheering her on, we know she’s going to continue blossoming. 🐾

Sassy would do best in a lower-traffic home and could join a family with respectful kiddos 10+. She would LOVE a confident canine sibling to help show her the ropes and remind her that being a dog is actually pretty fun. Cats, however, are not on her list of approved roommates. 🙅‍♀️

She’s being fostered locally right here in MA and can’t wait to find her people! 👉 browndogcoalition.com/adoption
