Woof the weather this week has been ruff! 🐾

But that's ok! Our dogs are enjoying our indoor areas and are learning how to not be bothered by the storms. What a great opportunity to teach our pups that loud noises don't have to be scary!

If you're asking yourself how to help condition your dog for big storms, here's some tips ....

- Do not over stimulate your dog ... A lot of owners do this by talking and touching their dog during "stressful" events. The higher pitch you talk, the more aware your dog becomes. AND the more pets they get, the more reassurance they feel of their emotions. Use your petting as a treat or tool! Petting your dog too much can create an anxious pet.

- Set up safe spots ... a crate, a cot, a bed, or a room may be helpful. Make sure it's easily accessible for use. Adding classical or calming music may also help!

- Treat your pup!! When your dog is behaving well, treat them! Are they staying quiet and relaxed - treat them! It's important to praise them correctly. Be sure to give treats for behaviors you want to see!

- Lastly, never punish a scared dog. It's better to ignore their overreaction than to punish them. Remember, our dogs don't always understand this big world, it's up to us to teach them!
