💜 RIP Winnie Girl 💜

This morning, 4 weeks post heat injury, we said goodbye to our sweet girl. I watched her be born and I was with her when she passed.

The vet was convinced that (whatever happened) brain cells were fried and she was not likely to get any better. A life in a kennel, being diapered and needing baths several times a day is not a good life…so we will lay her to rest tonight. Now she is healed 🌈

Her babies are doing great and will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Her leaving us this last gift is such a blessing and I’m going to try to enjoy the feedings (even at 3am) for the next couple weeks and then am going to be VERY picky about where these babies go!! I’m admittedly attached 💚💙🧡🩵🩷

This week’s 💜 pic is of my beautiful niece, Maya, who will be caring for the kittens until Sunday so our family can attend Unity Festival!! This is such a special gift for me and I’m so appreciative!! 🥰🎶🎤🥁

A note on Momma, Winnie: she visited the vet yesterday (3 weeks post heat injury/emergency vet visit). He thinks that the heat fried some of her brain cells and is unsure if she will recover any further. Janie at F2F is going to give her another week before hard decisions need to be made…please pray for her (& us). A life spent in a kennel, being hand fed, the inability to use the litter box, needing daily baths because you lay in your own excrement, loss of (some) eye sight and just an overall lack of awareness of where you’re at is not a good way to live. We all know the most humane thing to do…but that doesn’t make it easier, so I’m praying for a miracle 🙏🏼💜🐈‍⬛

💜: Winnie is still at F2F. She is doing ok. Taking fluids, eating wet food and yesterday they were going to try not giving her Sub Q fluids to see how she did. They said she is resting more and not aimlessly pacing as much. She is still not using her litter box 😑

Continued prayers are appreciated!! We are praying she recovers and can come home soon!!

And, just like that they are 1 week old!!

Boy 1 (grey tabby tuxedo): 4.3oz
Boy 2 (darker grey like momma): 3.5oz
Boy 3 (torti/tri-color): 3.5oz
Boy 4 (lighter grey): 3.5oz
Girl (all white): 3.0oz

They have all mastered feedings and also successfully pooped (thanks for the prayers 😉). A couple of them are starting to open their eyes…hence the wink faces. They ALL have lots to say too, lol!

Momma Winnie is still hanging on…she has received fluids, some meds, and likes her hydra care water. She is still very sick and we are all starting to wonder if she has lost her eyesight…the lights are on, but no one is home. Prayers for her continued recovery are appreciated!!

Always busy on the farm…

Pivot is 10 weeks old, still gets two 6oz bottles a day & weighs just under 20 pounds.

Fin & Endera are 4 weeks old, both polled & are both over 9lbs. They are the sweetest babies!!

The youngest baby chicks are still being raised by their momma (Rose) and are getting so big.

Winnie is hanging in there…but giving birth and nursing 5 babies less then 24 hours after suffering from dehydration and heat stroke would be hard for anyone!! We are keeping a close eye on her and may have to end up supplementing the babies with some KMR

What a difference 24 hours can make!!

Yesterday morning while letting Maverick out to go potty I noticed Winnie 🐈‍⬛ was very off. I’ll post a pic of her in the comments 🫣

Her third eyelids were stuck halfway shut, she was dehydrated, disoriented, sluggish and very hot. This was 9am…not the hottest part of the day by far! I brought her inside to cool her down and took her temp: 103.7° 🥵

After a couple hours, friend consults, vet calls and copilot help, I decided to bring her in. She lost control of her bladder and her temp was not coming down fast enough. AEH in GR was closest to me (& open), so that’s where we headed. They. Were. Amazing! They took her back right away to be monitored because she was in rough shape!!

After some blood work, a X-ray, some fluids given under her skin (& a lot of money 🥴) later we were headed home. They were hopeful the fluids would help within 12 hours. By 10pm last night she was still uninterested in wet cat food or water and her eyelids were still wonky.

This morning at 7:30 Jeff woke me up to say kittens were arriving! I got down there just in time to watch the 5th baby be born! Winnie’s eyes were back to normal & she was a momma! I wasn’t expecting babies until this weekend (& think the stress of yesterday may have made them come a few days early).

She is a good little momma and is figuring out the nursing thing. We have 3 boys and 2 girls (I think 🤣) and the all weigh between 1.76-2.75 ounces!! Teeny bebes!! I am SO thankful I took her in and got her fluids…I don’t know if her body would have made it through birthing today had she not gotten those. 🙏🏼 Kitten pics and updates will be flowing on your feed for the next 7 weeks…sorry, not sorry! 😘
