Miss Cora got Select 2/4 days with Friday receiving a 5 point (4pt on Thursday) GCH major with defeats. We have an amazingly supportive group of people in Brittany's and it just makes the whole experience top tier!

Miss Maite got a Select and a Best of Opposite placement at the Great Basin Non-sporting specialty Wednesday for a couple for points and defeats. She also received BOBOH each day but no love in groups. She had very tough competition all weekend. We love to see our breeder Anna and cheer for her and her super talented daughter.

Miss Crazy Cora Bora.
She is learning the ropes of being a Baby Special. Her and I are a bit out of practice but working through it. Today she did pretty dang good. We have gotten Select/Owner Handled each day but personally I think she has gotten better each day.

Walking and jogging a dog have become so normalized that they are often the first activities that come to mind when we think about exercising a dog.

These forms of exercise are widely accepted as the "standard," to the point that some pet parents feel judged or criticized if they don't walk their dog every single day.

There's often an unspoken expectation that if you live with a dog, daily walks or jogs are non-negotiable. However, this mindset doesn't take into account that walks and jogs aren't always feasible for every dog or their person.

For some dogs, walks may not even be physically possible, especially for older dogs, dogs with mobility issues, or those suffering from physical disabilities.

Weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, or rain can make outdoor walks unsafe or uncomfortable.

Some dogs have allergies that make outdoor activity challenging, or they may become overwhelmed by certain environmental stimuli such as noise, traffic, or other dogs.

And let's not forget that some dogs may have mental health concerns, like anxiety or fear, which can make walks a stressful experience for them rather than a fun outing.

Fortunately, there are a wide range of alternative activities that can offer both physical and mental stimulation, allowing dogs to burn off energy and stay healthy, without the need for daily walks or jogs.

Let’s focus on expanding our definition of what constitutes "exercise" for dogs so that we can create a more inclusive and understanding environment for pet parents, recognizing that every dog has unique needs and capabilities.

At the end of the day, it's about finding what works best for your dog and ensuring they stay happy, healthy, and mentally stimulated - whether that involves daily walks, or a mix of alternative activities!

We wrote an entire book about this called Canine Enrichment For The Real World. If you need ideas, you can get this book off Dogwise, Amazon, or Audible!

The chukar are super jumpy and quick to flight but learning experiences are always worthwhile. Yes lots of water was brought for all parties involved.

Really looking forward to introducing these girls as Specials in 2026! It was a great year! I still cannot believe I finished my first dog and my first completely owner handled dog ON THE SAME DAY! After 3 years of showing it’s nice to see it all come together. I still feel blessed!!

When at a trot the Brittany's hind foot should step into or beyond the print left by the front foot. Clean movement, coming and going, is very important, but most important is side gait, which is smooth, efficient and ground covering.

So Proud of these girls! 🥹🥳🙌
Long post because we had a lot of accomplishments this weekend.

Saturday October 11th 2025 was one for the record books. I legit should have bought a lottery ticket! 🎫

First off Maite with the help of the amazing Christina achieved Winners and Best of Winners and got the major she needed to complete her championship. After 3.5 years of showing dogs, and just over a year with Maite; This was our first completed championship on any dog we have shown. We are Incredibly proud of her!! We were flying high after this!

But the competitive Cora was not going to be upstaged. So, a couple hours later, she rocked it with me on the end of her lead to get a third major and finish her championship title on the same day! Cora has been completely owner handled and finished in basically 2 months. (If we just block out how bad she was for her first few shows in the 6-9 month class 😅🤦‍♀️)

Lastly my little Liver Rocket, Millie completed her last few Fast Cat Qualifying runs for her DCAT title.

I cannot express how elated I am. This was probably our last show of the year and I was hoping to finish one girl. So relieved and grateful to be able to finish them both before we curl up for the winter.

Miss Cordelia is a bird dog!
Cora and I ventured to Reno to the GSP club of Reno’s Double Double this weekend and ran in 4 Junior Hunt tests. And she passed all four! Some with flying colors and some by the skin of our teeth. I’m so proud of her for doing a great job showing the judges her desire for birds and her ability to find birds!
Thank you to Derrick and Shannon from Jump Creek Kennels for her basics and bird intro.
