🐾🌈 FOUND CAT🌈🐾

A kind community member in the town of Spooner recently brought a deceased, female tuxedo cat to us, hoping we could locate her family through a microchip. She appears to be around 2–3 years old. Sadly, she is not microchipped, and we currently have no way to identify her or contact her loved ones.

She is a typical tuxedo cat—mostly black with all four white paws, and a mostly black face with a distinctive white mustache.

We know how important closure can be, and we want to do everything we can to help reunite her with her family—if only to give them peace of mind.

If you or someone you know is missing a cat that matches this description, please call us at (715) 635-4720 we can provide a way for you to send photos for identification purposes and our dedicated care crew will check any photos for a match ASAP.

It is not easy when these things happen yet we’re so grateful to the person who brought her in. Your compassion matters.

Please share this post to help us reach a family who may be missing her dearly.

🐈 Meet Lilo!

Lilo is a marble tabby with an outgoing, affectionate, and active personality. As she is only one year old, she has lots of kittenish energy and curiosity---she is eager to play and have a good time!

Lilo was glued to her foster family and loved spending time with them. Once Lilo bonds with a person, she becomes their little shadow, laying in wait for the first opportunity to curl up on a lap.

Her fosters think she might be an excellent mouse hunter! She can jump, run, twist, chase, and zero-in on prey with the best of them.

Lilo would thrive in a home with experienced cat owners who can help her continue to grow into her best self. She can be territorial with new feline introductions, so she’d do best as the only cat or with slow, patient introductions. While she’s not the best fit for families with young children (she sometimes plays a little too enthusiastically), we think she could learn to get along with the right dog.

Lilo is spayed, vaccinated, and ready to find her forever home—could it be with you? Fill out our application online at www.wcahs.com, come visit our animals on our open days, or give us a call to set up an appointment at 715-635-4720.

History of the WCAHS Washburn County Area Humane Society (WCAHS)

The Washburn County Area Humane Society (WCAHS) was established in March 1994 and incorporated in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) private, non-profit corporation. In 2000, the shelter located at 1400 Cottonwood Ave. was officially opened. It was constructed as a result of the fund raising efforts of many volunteers with the 1.21 acres of land given as a gift by the city of Spooner. In March 2017, our shelter was destroyed by a fire. We purchased a building at 1300 Roundhouse Road, remodeled it, and moved to the new shelter in July 2018.

WCAHS is the official pound for stray animals in Washburn County but also provides shelter on an average to hundreds of homeless animals annually.
