🚨 Spencer Fair Traffic & Safety Update 🚨

The Spencer Fair starts tonight with the rides open only, and the rest of the fairgrounds opening tomorrow morning.

The Spencer Fair brings tens of thousands of visitors through our town each year, and with that growth comes new challenges for safety and traffic flow. To help keep things moving smoothly, we will be closing Meadow Road westbound from North Spencer Road to Smithville Road when traffic becomes congested. We are also asking that all fair traffic enter from Main Street onto Meadow Road to keep vehicles moving safely and efficiently.

👉 For everyone’s safety:
• No weapons or outside alcohol are permitted inside the fairgrounds.
• All visitors will be subject to bag searches and walk-through metal detectors before entering.

This traffic and safety plan was reviewed and approved by the Town of Spencer Select Board, the Spencer Fair Association, and the Spencer Police Department. While our department has a small staffing level, we are proud to continue providing the highest level of safety and service to our community and visitors. You will see Spencer Police Officers inside the fairgrounds providing security, as well as officers in the roadways managing traffic flow. All this while still maintaining our staffing levels on regular patrol in town.

For those of you who may have been confused by the map we posted last week, we’ve made it simple: follow the blue route on the map, Main Street to Meadow Road into the fairgrounds. We understand that if you’re coming from Paxton or Route 31 North, this may feel like a roundabout way in, but it prevents traffic jams at the Meadow/North Spencer intersection, which can otherwise back up traffic on Route 31 in both directions.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience as we work to make the Spencer Fair safe, enjoyable, and successful for all. 🎡
