I wanted to share this here since I know some of our clients have been helped by Anakin’s Trails in the past.

Family, friends, followers, and fans..

The last 24 hours have been a maelstrom of emotions. Fear, anger, anxiety… but above all, disappointment in our county system that is supposed to help the helpless , and be a voice for the voiceless.

Yesterday late afternoon (and the 5 deputies that picked Beth and I up were the most respectful and polite individuals. I could tell they didn’t want to do this) as they picked us up and adorned us with handcuffs in front of our children, grandchildren, and spouses….we had an idea of what case this was about. The biggest victim in all of this, who we named, “Max”. We had to do our best to keep our mindset in tact while in custody. We had to remember that this was for a dog that had no voice as he laid in red mud in 97 degree South Carolina heat , immobile because of his stage 6 heart failure , assumed heartworms (as stated on the vet report by the veterinarian) bloated abdomen from ascites, and infestations of fleas and ticks as flies overcame the black and white fur on his face …our hearts dropped as he took his paw and continually tried to wipe his face as his eyes drained and the flies wouldn’t give mercy. It was the only time he moved while we were on the walking trail . His respiratory rate was easily a struggle to breathe. We thought he would make a recovery after treatment . We never knew he was so bad off until we got to the hospital and met with the doctor.

To our family and friends and members, to our clients who we trapped a dog or cat or pig for, to the rescues we have assisted with, to the shelters we have worked beside , to the fellow trappers we have coached and coached us , to the adopters we have given a family member to, to the fosters, to the followers, to the fans, to ANYONE who has supported us these passed 2.5 years …. THANK YOU. Your support has given us more strength and courage. Thank you for believing in us . I am in tears as I write this.

The 3rd person that was with us the evening that we rescued Max, was picked up by police this afternoon. There are 3 individuals that are now with these ludicrous charges. If it is allowed, I plan to be at the bond hearing.
UPDATE - A fourth person related to this situation, has been arrested.

We will not state any names of anyone involved accusing us of these acts. We are classier than that, and we WILL have our day in court.

As most of you know, I have feelings about charity. I would do all of this rescuing for free if I could. One of our members started a GoFundMe after the influx of requests to pay for attorney fees for the ones accused in this case. Please don’t feel obligated, but it’s always appreciated. It will be posted this evening.
