Down in Kissimmee, Florida, Osceola County Deputy Josh Fiorelli came across a dog that had been hit by a car and was lying injured on the side of the road. She was wet, cold, and alone — but not for long.

Deputy Fiorelli called for help and then did something that speaks volumes about the kind of man he is: he sat beside her, gently petting her and covering her with his own jacket to keep her warm. “She didn’t have anyone there,” he said. “So I decided to be that person.”

This powerful moment, captured by a passerby, quickly went viral — a quiet reminder that compassion is at the core of this job. Some wear the badge with bravery. Others wear it with grace. Deputy Fiorelli wears it with both.

Thank you to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office for showing what it truly means to protect and serve — not just people, but every life that needs help.

If you’ve followed Gracie’s story, you know you can’t keep that bundle of spice and s***k down for long!

Gracie's spayed and ready to rumble, thanks to the Northeast Washington Spay Neuter Alliance and Dr. Laura Talaga! She’s back home recovering at Specialized Pet Solutions.

Higher Ground Animal Sanctuary / Inland Northwest Animal Sanctuary and Cheri Scandalis sponsored the surgery.

It’s hard to believe that a year ago, vets removed Gracie’s right “chicken wing” leg and partially amputated her left leg because of a debilitating birth defect.

Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz built her a prosthetic, and Gracie hasn’t slowed down since!

Thanks to Specialized Pet Solutions, a miniature donkey with an oversized will to live is making history at a Mount Calvary, Wisconsin, donkey rescue.

Angela Langoski, founder of Holyland Donkey Haven Inc., rescued Ferguson in 2017. To say he had health problems is an understatement. He was neglected and underweight. But that wasn’t the worst of it.

“His feet were horrible,” Angela explained. “His hooves had not been trimmed. One had grown so much it was stabbing into his leg. He had an abscess there. The only way I can describe looking at his leg is looking at a loaf of bread.”

The problem forced Ferguson to walk on the side of his foot, so Angela launched a plan to heal him. Her farrier trimmed Ferguson's hooves, and her veterinarian worked to heal the abscess. But nothing worked. Vets at the University of Wisconsin amputated his foot and fitted him with a prosthetic, Angela described as a peg leg. That solution worked—for a while.

But when it stopped fitting, Angela asked for help on Facebook and found Specialized Pet Solutions. “I said we wanted something that went higher up his leg and had more stability of staying where we put it and not moving around on him,” she said.

We crafted a new device, and Ferguson is thrilled.

"As soon as we put it on, he knew the difference. He started walking around. He even ran a little bit, and he never, ever ran," Angela remembered. “He's just been a happy little boy.”

But the ultimate test of our device came during a rite of passage for donkeys at Holyland Donkey Haven Inc. You see, they like to knock over the wheelbarrow while workers are cleaning. Ferguson did that for the first time, thanks to Specialized Pet Solutions.

“It’s almost a coming of age for the donkeys. They are very proud of themselves," Angela said. "The first time he was able to do it, he stood there braying like, 'Hey guys, look what I did!'"

Good job, Ferguson! We’re pulling for you 1,700 miles away in Spangle, Washington.

Mary McDonald and her family will never forget how a rainy, muddy February day led her to Specialized Pet Solutions in Spangle, Washington. That’s because one of their six horses slipped and fell.

Her daughter spotted the injury first.

“My daughter said, ‘Mom! Belle’s leg. I turned around and thought Belle had broken her leg,” Mary remembered. “We called the doctor right away, and he thought we might have to put her down.”

Instead, the exam found a dislocated leg. The vet put Belle in a temporary cast, but weeks later, Mary’s biggest worry became what would happen when the cast came off permanently. After all, another dislocation could force a $20,000 surgery at best, euthanasia at worst.

Mary turned to the internet.

“I did my own research,” she said. “We're the type of people that if our horse or pet needs a prosthetic, we would get one no matter the cost.”

She found Specialized Pet Solutions, checked reviews and called the owner, Angela Boncz. The call ended with Angela designing a special brace unique to Belle. It stretches 10 to 12 inches above her fetlock, essentially her ankle, all the way to her cannon. The cannon is the primary weight-bearing bone in the lower leg.

“The brace is fantastic. It's probably for our sanity and reassurance that she's not going to dislocate the leg again. It’s helped her and our sanity.”

And that’s just what Mary and her family wanted, a chance for a horse they describe as special to live her best life.

“Belle acted like the adoptive mom to both of our youngest horses,” she said. “She raised them up, protected them as her own, until they were big enough to defend themselves against our other horses. She's a beautiful herd matriarch. She has done fantastically.”

We’re so grateful for the chance to help Belle!

This is Forest. He has severe hyperextension of his front legs. Once the carpal brace and the carpal brace with paw section were introduced to him, he had an almost instant improvement in his gait. We love helping animals live their best lives!

Spokane’s Mike Ellis walked roughly 132,000 steps Saturday and, thanks to generous donors, raised $3,410 for special needs dogs.

“My back is killing me, hips are screaming, and my legs are cramping,” Mike said when he took his last step. “But the money we raised together will help dogs who give unconditional love, which makes this all worthwhile.”

The fundraiser will benefit Joey's PAW, a nonprofit created after its founders adopted a rescue dog who lost both back legs to severe abuse. Since 2017, Joey’s story has helped 2,120 animals by providing 1,514 wheelchairs and 120 prosthetics.

"As I walked, I thought of the dogs helped by Joey's PAW and Specialized Pet Solutions LLC. It's what kept me going," said Ellis

Joey’s Paw often works with Specialized Pet Solutions, a Spangle-based business that creates orthotics and prosthetics to restore a dog’s mobility. Specialized Pet Solutions owner, Angela Boncz, and her rescue dog Gracie, showed up to support Mike. About eight months ago, vets removed Gracie’s right “chicken wing” leg and partially amputated her left leg because of a debilitating birth defect. Angela built her a prosthetic, and Gracie is on the go.

Mike started the 50-mile walk around the Bloomsday course on Saturday at 5 a.m. He took his last step in this challenge at 10:15 pm.

Special thanks to all who donated, including 16 Cents, 3 Shoes, & 5 Socks for pledging $30 a mile. Mike will rest up while Joey's PAW and Specialized Pet Solutions LLC help special needs dogs live their best lives. You can still donate.

You might say Specialized Pet Solutions owner Angela Boncz found the best of two worlds. She dreamed of becoming a veterinarian to fulfill her love of animals. But the prospect of spending years at school didn't click with her. Instead, she became an Orthotic and Prosthetic technician by day and an animal rescuer in her free time.

Now Angela is building a business to restore mobility, giving special needs animals a chance to live their best lives. Their owners are often faced with tough choices, including surgeries that cost thousands of dollars and require weeks of recovery.

Enter Specialized Pet Solutions. Angela believes that non-invasive treatment is always the first step. "You do rest, ice, heat, anti-inflammatories, braces, orthotics, and physical therapy before surgery," explained Angela.

That's what Angela did in 2004 when her rescue dog, Leona, suffered a debilitating injury.

"Leona had a knee tear, and they wanted $5,000 to do the surgery," said Angela. "I knew I could do a brace instead."

She applied her experience and training to build a brace for Leona. Leona went on to run and play fetch for many more years, and Angela found a growing business niche—orthotics and prosthetics for our four-legged friends, such as horses, donkeys, goats, dogs, and cats.

"We care about the product and the animal," Angela said. "We want to make sure that we help, that we are giving a high-quality product that will function properly and not just fill our pockets at the end of the day."

You can usually find Angela working in the Specialized Pet Solutions shop in Spangle, Washington.

Follow along as we showcase Angela's journey as she helps pet owners find solutions for their disabled pets. After all, as Angela put it, "It just feels good to help these animals."
