Radnor races 2026 was full throttle for me
The day started off with the junior beginner pony races. Where my freak of a 27 year old pony who is healthy as a horse ๐ just missed winning with his 12 year old rider by mere nose hairs. Ty has not raced since 2011 when I was 15.... but he didnt miss a beat. It was pure nostalgia for me to be walking him in the paddock for another kid.
Then off to the thoroughbred side saddle race. We had 5 thoroughbreds running. Brielle had a comfortable as ever round on red( giantinthemoonlite) who doesnt ever get an award for being in the front, but an award for the cutest expression. Anna woody had a challenging ride on Gewehr( gun lobby) who still thinks shes ready to run the god damn derby. Anna worked hard on her mount but big kudos for a strong, calm and impressive ride. Sydney Pemberton had her first taste of the side saddle races after her and her mom drove up from VA to race. Sydney took connor ( Leadingthelight) and they settled into eachother like two peas. Sydney gave him a great ride, chasing the other top horse nose to nose at the wire. I couldn't be more thrilled to give her that first ride. Susan oakes made a quick stop in PA to pilot haze( noodle w**d) aka the fright train ๐
. Haze was ready to eat up the radnor course and Susan couldn't have looked cooler. Susan and Sydney battled doen the stretch to the wire where haze was able to nip connor for the W. Lauren apple helped keep the peace out there on jessie lampes cheetah beach ๐
Lastly we gave the non thoroughbreds their own race. Audery Buchanan brought her famous Lucas who is always the crowd fav. Sally smith lead the field with her big white horse Harvey, sarah Pemberton took her fav JCF horse, waylon, for her first time around radnor, Mary Musheno had a lovely borrowed mount from CM farms, amy and her sweet chunky boy blue, Christina Mulqueen made the drive with two mounts, one shared to our olivia, and super proud of faith lacorte for her first ever race win on our confetti. Confetti has been practicing her need for speed and wasnt going to miss her opportunity. Great job faith and ALL of the ladies who worked so hard, traveled so far to help me put this crowd favorite together.
Thank you olivias family for putting together our jump coop farm tailgate, radnor hunt races for catering to the side saddle ladies, equine exchange and black diamonds for the sponsorship, all the extra hands we need to stay afloat and the insane teamwork these ladies have. To think of the amount of ladies we have added to the side saddle world over the last few years means so much to me
