Thomas O'Malley slipped out of our shelter last night while we were trying to coral him back into the shelter. Unfortunately, he hasn't been here long enough to know this is where he's supposed to be. We think he may be headed back to his foster's home which is a few miles away. If you spot him, please reach out. He's very sweet but this transition has him a little confused. He's the big boy on the left.

Our sweet Justin, who was once deemed our megacolon kitty, is now facing another challenge. He has inflammatory polyps—one protruding from his ear and another under his soft palate, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Today, he’s undergoing surgery at Sound Cat to remove the polyps and rebuild his ear canal, which is the only way to prevent them from returning. This procedure is essential for his comfort and long-term health.

Volunteers Needed for Cat Transport! 🚨

We need help picking up cats from spay/neuter appointments at Fix a Friend (Winnabow) and Cape Fear Spay/Neuter Clinic (Castle Hayne), typically 3pm for Cape Fear and between 5-7 PM for Fix a Friend. While pickups are the main need, occasional help with other transport situations would also be appreciated!

***Update Kizzie was adopted this afternoon. We are hopeful she’ll start to decompress quickly. The adopters know of her idiosyncrasies and promise they wont bring her back. Please keep her in your thoughts as she transitions to her new home

Kizzie is now available at the Surf City Petco for a meet and great. She is a woman’s cat but she tolerates men. It just takes her a little longer to warm up. Kizzie would do best as an only pet or maybe with a kitten to play with. She is a typical calico with a catitude. She has a tendency to become over stimulated, especially if she doesn’t get her way. lol Once you become her person, she will snuggle with you and make biscuits on your neck while giving you kisses. She becomes very affectionate. She just needs a little time to decompress and feel comfortable. Please take a few minutes and visit with her.
