We’re excited to share that Animal Assistance League of Slidell is one of the local charities benefiting from the JOY Charity Benefit! ❤️🐾

Join us Saturday, September 12th from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Slidell, 57210 Allen Road in Slidell for a wonderful day of food, fun, shopping, and giving back to our community!

Enjoy a JOYful High Tea, entertainment, baked goods, plants, beautiful quilts, jewelry, raffles, door prizes, and a silent auction! Admission is just $5.00, with proceeds benefiting CCC, STARC, and Animal Assistance League of Slidell.

🐾 Every event that supports AALS helps us continue doing what we love most—helping the animals of the Slidell Animal Shelter.

Meet Anthony Kiedis. 💛

This sweet 4-year-old shepherd mix came to us as a stray, and he's trying so hard to be brave. Right now the shelter is just a little too loud, a little too strange, with too many new smells and sounds for his tender heart.

Anthony is heartworm positive, but he has already started his treatment like a champ. What he needs most now to finish healing is not a kennel, but a quiet corner of a loving home where he can finally feel safe, secure, and truly seen.

He doesn't need perfect, he just needs peaceful. A soft bed, a kind voice, and someone to let him go at his own pace.

Please don't scroll past her.

This sweet mama has done the hard work. She raised her babies, and now she's just waiting for her turn to be someone's baby.

You won't find crazy colors or flashy markings here. What you will find is the dog everyone says they are looking for, but somehow keeps getting overlooked.

Mia, a 5 1/2 year old Mix Breed, is pure peace in dog form.

She is potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, respects every boundary in the house, doesn't chew, and actually listens. No food aggression. No toy aggression. Just a calm, sweet, soulful girl who is happy to just BE with you.
And in true Louisiana fashion - she LOVES this brutal heat. She will find the sunniest spot in the yard and just bask in it, so happy and content.

She would be amazing for anyone. A senior, a first-time owner, a busy family, a single person who just wants a quiet companion. She is that easy, that good.

She has been waiting over 6 months for someone to see HER. Could that someone be you?

This beautiful girl is Sally, a 3-year-old Domestic Short Hair. 🐱

Sally came to us as a stray and right now the world feels pretty big and scary to her. She's very cautious and feels safest tucked away in her kennel. When we took her out for her glamour shots... let's just say she had OPINIONS and protested LOUDLY! 😾📢📸

She's not mean, she's just overwhelmed. What this girl really needs is time to decompress and a patient person to show her that a home can be safe, quiet, and full of love. 🏡💕

We know there's a perfect someone out there who understands that the best things take time. With patience, Sally will learn that she doesn't have to hide anymore.

This 2-year-old Terrier Mix came to us as a stray, but you'd never know it from his attitude. Ekans is 100% friendly, happy, and WIGGLY.
He's got the happiest tail in Slidell, a goofy grin that never quits, and he wiggles his whole body when he sees people. If you're looking for a best friend who will greet you like a celebrity every single day, he's your guy.
Ekans is ready to trade the stray life for a couch, a family, and all the belly rubs.

6 months old, Domestic Shorthair, 100% certified NOT a power tool.
He was found hanging out in the hardware store like he owned the place. We think someone told him he was a Flare-nut and he took it literally. He was last seen trying to check himself out in the fastener aisle. 🔩
He does NOT know how to fix a leaky faucet, install drywall, or build a deck...
BUT he IS an expert at:
✨ Supervising from the toolbox
✨ Quality control on all naps 💤
✨ Making biscuits like he's getting paid by the hour 🐾
No, he doesn't actually breathe fire like his Pokemon namesake, but he WILL steal all the warm spots in your house. 🔥❤️

This is TJ. He's only 2 years and 7 months old, a beautiful Siberian Husky who was found as a stray. 💔

He came to us in such bad shape. His coat was so matted and neglected that he had to be shaved down to start fresh. He looks a little naked right now, but we just KNOW he is going to be absolutely stunning once that gorgeous Husky coat grows back! ✨

TJ has had a rough road, and he still has some healing to do:
🩺 He is heartworm positive - his treatment has already been started
🦷 At his vet checkup they found dental attrition and heavy tartar
💙 He had a seizure after sedation, so he will need to be monitored for any more seizures

This sweet boy has been through SO much, and what he needs more than anything right now is YOUR help. 🙏

The shelter is just too stressful for him while he's trying to heal. What TJ really needs is a quiet, loving FOSTER HOME to finish his heartworm treatment in. A soft bed, a calm home, and someone to let him decompress and feel safe.

He doesn't need you to be perfect - just patient, loving, and willing to keep an eye on him. All medical is covered by us.

💙🐺 FOSTER NEEDED FOR LUCARIO! 🐺💙

Meet Lucario! 🐾

This handsome 2-year-old Siberian Husky boy was found as a stray and is now looking for a place to land. Under all that fluffy fur is the sweetest, goofiest, most lovable boy! 🥰

Lucario got some tough news — he is heartworm positive. 💔 But here's the good news: Heartworm IS treatable and this boy has his whole life ahead of him!

What he needs now is a foster home where he can rest and heal while he goes through treatment. 🏡💤
