DoCo Dog Care Overnight boarding for our local DoCo dogs 🐾

In the coming days, WHS will welcome 150 beagles from Ridglan Farms, as part of a national effort to rescue and rehome 1,500 dogs. This endeavor is being led by Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy, and other partners, including the Dane County Humane Society, Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies, Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project, Inc, and other Wisconsin animal welfare groups.

This is how you can help:
🐾 Become a foster family!
If you are not yet an approved foster family, start that process directly from our website at wihumane.org/foster/apply 👈

🐾 A single intake of 150 dogs will require some extra resources. If you are able to donate supplies, you can do so from our Wishlist at: https://wihumane.me/WHSAmazonWishlist or by dropping off supplies at any of our locations.

🐾 Those interested in making a donation to help these animals can do so online at https://wihumane.me/Beagles2026 👈

The beagles cared for by WHS will be available for adoption once they are medically and behaviorally cleared. Those interested in adoption should review the adoption process at www.wihumane.org/adopt in the coming days and weeks.

Community support truly makes it possible for WHS to help large-scale rescues like this, and we couldn’t be more proud to be part of an effort making a difference for animals and the people who love them.
Thank you! ❤️

Meet Aura & Nyla 🐾

These two came to us as strays, but you’d never guess it by how gentle, calm, and full of love they are. They are truly the kind of dogs that just exist peacefully—no chaos, no drama… just soft eyes, wagging tails, and quiet companionship.

They don’t have to go together…
…but if we’re being honest? They should. ❤️

There’s something really special about the way they move through life side by side—like they’ve already figured out the secret to happiness, and it’s just being near each other.

And here’s the thing—if you’re worried about “twice the work,” don’t be. These girls are about as low-maintenance as it gets. Calm, easygoing, and perfectly content just being loved.

So really… why not two?
Twice the love, twice the loyalty, and a built-in best friend—for them and for you. Some bonds are just too sweet to break. 🐶💕

Hey, can Cosmo catch a ride with you? Cosmo would love to get out of the shelter and, frankly, we can’t figure out why she’s still here. She’s beautiful, fun, and so very sweet. Cosmo can be selective about her dog friends but if your dog is respectful and chill they might get along ok. Take a look at Cosmo on our website now and see if this lovely lady is the one for you!
