Northern Door Pet Clinic

Northern Door Pet Clinic Feline only veterinary practice located in Sister Bay, WI. We strive to provide quality medicine to our fabulous feline patients. No walk-ins.

We are primarily a feline practice and strive to practice medicine, with the least stress for your cat. In order to do this we work by appointments only. This allows us to have an appointment done and the lobby empty for the next appointment. This way your kitty doesn't have to worry about a barking dog. We may do drop off for sick animals if we do not have open appointment times. We always put the health needs of our current patients above those of non-patients.

Update on Dr Carrie!!

She had a recheck appointment in Green Bay on 9/5, and the doctor has given her the all clear to slowly start back to normal activities, as long as things don’t hurt. Ribs and spleen are slowly healing, and her heart seems to be fine. She still gets tired easily, and needs to take it easy.

We will start slowly-1/2 days twice a week starting Monday the 15. Please be patient w us as we slowly work through our back log appointments.

We won’t be able to do any surgeries for a good month or so.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!!

A brief update on Dr. Carrie – she had another doctors appointment on the 29th, to recheck some bloodwork, and things are looking up. She was pretty anemic, but that is getting better, but a lot more slowly than she would like

She’s still very stiff and sore, and gets tired very easily (due to the anemia), but the doctors and the people doing PTO say she is doing very good. And honestly a lot better than they expect.

She has another doctors appointment in Green Bay this week while they’ll re-x-ray her to double check her ribs and possibly spleen. I don’t expect her back in the office for sometime yet. And when she does come back, it will be part-time only until she gets her strength back.

We are working with a local retired veterinarian who has graciously offered to come in and help do some relief work. I’m hoping to get at least one day a week scheduled with Dr. John starting next week.

❤️❤️Again, I want to say thank you to all of our wonderful clients for all their well wishes, donations to the GoFundMe, cards and understanding in this traumatic event. We are truly blessed to have all of you. ❤️❤️

A very good friend of ours set up a GoFundMe for Dr. Carrie.
This would cover things that are not covered by insurance, such as the helicopter ride to Aurora in Green Bay to the ER, in home PT, etc…

For some reason, I cannot share the link, but if you message me personally I think I can send it that way.

Thank you for your continued well wishes and support.

First, I want to say thank you to all out clients for their concern and well wishes for Dr. Carrie. They are truly appreciated, more than you can know.

I’ve been working with horses for over 40 years, and this is one of the worst accidents involving a fall from a horse that I have ever seen. And it was a fall- Dr. Carrie’s horse got startled and did what horses do. Spooked and ran..

As most of you know, Dr. Carrie came home on Wednesday.
She called me at six that morning, and her hematocrit was still in the low range, they were going to take it again around 11 and if it was stable, she could come home. If it was lower, the next step would’ve been a splenectomy. Thankfully, it was stable.
She’s getting another blood test today, so I will know more about that later on

At the moment, the office will be open from 8am-1pm on our normal business days for medication pick ups and pet food sales. We do not have a doctor on staff to do any type of appointments. I don’t anticipate Dr. Carrie being back in the office until mid September, and even then it will be very limited as to what she can do(or what we will let her do).
❤️
I will try to keep you all updated as best I can, and once again, thank you for all the well wishes and concern

Update on Dr Carrie

I talked to her this morning and she sounds much, much better.
Neck, and spine CT are good, heart looks ok, spleen looks ok, and hemoglobin levels are improved. Her ribs are the most painful, of course.
Right now, they are thinking about getting her out of the ICU, and deciding whether it’s home or rehab.

We’re not sure what the next few weeks will bring-but we are brainstorming ideas.

We want to say thank you to all of our clients for their patience and understanding. We truly appreciate all of you!! ❤️❤️

As some of you may have heard, Dr. Carrie was involved in a pretty serious horseback riding accident yesterday and ended up in the Green Bay ICU.
She has some fractured ribs, lacerations to her spleen and contusion to the heart.
Needless to say, the clinic will be closed for the next few days.
I will post more information as I get it, so please be patient.

Edit-I just talked to the nurse at Aurora, and she’s doing pretty good. Vitals are stable. She’s moving. Her oxygen level is good, her electrolytes and kidney levels were good. They’re gonna do a couple more blood draws this morning they want to double check her hemoglobin because it’s a little low, but they’re thinking it’s because of the IVs.
