If you’ve been following along with our Rescue Week stories, thank you. If you haven’t yet… go check them out. These are the stories that need to be told. The ones that pull you in and remind you why rescue matters so much.
And if there’s one story we want you to hear, it’s Robbie’s.
He’s one of our own.
A Pet Pal.
A gentle soul.
A survivor.
But to really understand Robbie, you’ve got to picture where he came from.
Not a cozy living room or a backyard full of sunshine. No soft bed or squeaky toys. Robbie was found in one of those horrible puppy mills and Dakota Dachshund Rescue came to help.
You know the kind....
the kind you wish weren’t real.
The smell of filth so strong it clings to your skin. Crusted cages stacked one on top of the other.
F***s everywhere. Rot. Darkness.
Not a single sign of love or human touch.
Just barking... but not the happy kind.
The desperate kind of mechanical cycle of greed-driven breeding.
That was Robbie’s world. Day in, day out.
No kindness.
No peace.
No choice.
And, yes....this is Robbie in all the photos and where he once lived.
And yet… somehow, somehow... he made it out.
And today? Robbie is the exact opposite of everything he came from.
Now he lives in a foster home full of love with his dearest Momma, Vicki. And every time a scared, unsure foster dog walks through the door, Robbie is the first one to greet them. Not with wild energy or dominance.
Just calm.
Steady.
Gentle.
He leans in close like he’s saying,
"I know, friend. I’ve been there too. But it gets better. Let me show you."
Robbie has made it his life’s mission to be the love he never had, for every new foster, and every human who crosses his path. Honestly? He teaches us how to love better.
At Pet Pals, we carry that same mission forward.
And one of the ways we do that is this:
When a foster pet comes into a clients home, we care for them at no charge. Whether it’s a walk, a drop-in visit, or an overnight stay, if you’re fostering, you never pay extra.
Why?
Because it’s the right thing to do.
Because foster parents are heroes.
Because those animals deserve every soft moment they can get.
And because we believe deeply that when our community gives, we give too.
So when you Hire Pet Pals, know this:
You're not just hiring someone to care for your pets.
You're helping us care for foster pets, rescue pets, shelter pets.
You're part of something bigger.
You’re helping dogs like Robbie turn pain into purpose.
And if that doesn’t tug your heart… we don’t know what will.
Ready to make a difference with us?
Hire Pet Pals. Your Pet Will Thank.
💛 Let’s do more good, together.
From the bottom of our hearts....and Vicki and Robbie’s too...
Thank you.
