Wow!!! Yesterday was exciting, exhilarating and exhausting here at the rescue! We had a full day of work and so much got accomplished, thanks to our amazing volunteers! 😊

First, Mystic has been adopted!!! I think she’s been here 8-9 years, having pulled her out of auction where she was headed to slaughter. We invested in some training where we were able to determine she was not a safe ride, but very good on the ground. Cyndi has been coming to volunteer for a few years now and I honestly feel Mystic has found her person! Mystic responds so well to Cyndi, I think the 2 of them are going to have a very bright future!♥️

Our Navy guys were back out to help with an additional volunteer, Bill, so all stalls were mucked out, tractor work done, tarp over hay replaced to keep it dry, and the final siding was put up on the shelter for our two geriatrics, Keona and Magic! What a chore that was!

There was even time to love on and groom horses which they absolutely love!

Running the rescue solo has kept me busy and challenged, but the Navy guys who come out to help have been a huge blessing and I appreciate every one of them! The big projects are getting done and we’re all set for winter! 🥶 And a BIG thanks to Bill for coming out and helping! Sure wish he lived closer! 😊

Can I just say it was a remarkable day out at the rescue?!?! There was so much going on and my vision is becoming an even bigger reality as we make major changes in preparing for the winter months.

First and foremost, every Navy Sailor who comes out has dedicated hard work, team work, commitment and passion. These projects would be difficult for me to complete without their help. I am forever grateful to each and every one of them. We also find time to give the horses individual care by grooming, taking them into the arena and mucking their stalls. We had a lot of fun spending time with them.

We opened up the mini’s enclosure and gave them access to more room and a larger shelter. Poor Marshmallow, who is the smallest and blind, was very cautious and even took a little fall, but by dinner time, he had it down!

The back side of the newest shelter was installed and our two geriatrics will have a warm, covered area to eat and rest out of the elements. This was a huge priority for me, especially with their age. The remaining two sides will be installed shortly, but you’ll see in the pictures that they’re settling in nicely.

I was so excited to spend some time with Katie, teaching her how to halter and groom the horses! She picked it up like she’d been doing it all her life giving each one of them some very needed time and attention. She had 5 of them groomed and looking pretty, even walking them to the arena! I know they’ll be happy to see her next time she’s out.

My Belgian Draft came home from training and everyone was in awe of what a gentle giant Tess is. I’m sharing some of the pictures taken with her after the hard work was done.

I know this has been a long post, but I had so much to share! Please know you’re welcome to come out to visit Saturday mornings as well! There’s always plenty to do and plenty of horses to love.

Thank you Lance, Chase, Dillon, Payton and Katie! Hope you enjoyed the muffins and pumpkin cheesecake! 😊

We really had a fun time today! After the mucking, out came the tractor and the quad for dragging. I’ll just say it, these guys absolutely love this ‘work’! 😊

And they enjoy spending time with the horses just as much! Reni got out and had a lesson in lunging. 🤣 She looked so confused, but Dillon was so patient with her!

Mystic got out and enjoyed some free lunging and Duchess got out for a bit. Payton is new to horses but he’s really enjoying walking Duchess and spending time with the others.

Guys, I sure appreciate your help, especially with the panels too! And thank you for your service!

It was a quiet Saturday since most sailors were not able to come out, but between Lance and I, we managed to get stalls mucked and horses out.

Check out Lance in his new duds!!! He had a soft heart for Duchess and was convinced she needed a little more breakfast. ♥️

I missed getting pics of the tractor work out back, but with the help of our Navy volunteers, we were able to get some of the rescues out for some needed exercise in the arena. We moved panels, relocated some auto waterers and switched up stalls, giving more space to a few of them.

After all the hard work, we brought out one of my new personal horses, Duchess. She had not been ridden until today. She had some bucks in her but overall did very well for Dillon. Payton even agreed to get on and be led around the arena!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and a video is in the comments!

Another great day with our helpful Navy! They keep on smiling!

I appreciate them so much. Here are some pictures from Saturday that I took and some the Chief took!

And the fresh donuts were a hit! ♥️😊

More fun this past Saturday with new faces and kids! I absolutely love watching and teaching them all about caring for horses! Thanks again to all who came out and got things done! I so appreciate all of you! ♥️

I’m a little behind in posting, but our favorite Navy peeps were here again this past Saturday! From mucking, tractoring (is that a word? 🤣), manure spreading, fixing bent panels and spending time with the horses, everyone had smiles. Horses were put in the arena for exercise before the temps reached 100!

We’re so thankful for all their help! Get ready to see a big project started soon!

They came back! With even more help! What an amazing sight and honor to welcome the Naval Aviation Warfare Development Center Sailors from the Naval Air Station Fallon!

Stalls were mucked, manure spread, waters cleaned and refilled and the horses were loved on and groomed!

Hay was delivered as well and everyone pitched in and got it unloaded!

Thank you so much for all your help! You came when I needed it most and I appreciate each and every one of you!

On a side note, surgery went well and my cancerous kidney is gone! Later this month I’ll find out what treatment will be needed when I meet with my oncologist! ♥️
