Remount Horsemanship Inc. Foundational training for horses.Horsemanship using feel, classical and vaquero techniques.

Traditionally, the Military Remount program provided horses with a solid foundation in areas such as noise and movement confidence, trail basics, dressage basics, and general fitness, before starting them out on their career. We dream of a world where modern horses have the same benefits of foundation training before becoming eventing, dressage, trail, or reining specialists etc. We believe that

this will help many horses lead happier and more fulfilling lives and help to keep their owners safe. It is never fun to ride a horse that spooks explosively at horse shows or jigs when ridden out of the arena. Many of these issues can be avoided when the horse is offered a comprehensive early education. Foundation training is the most important training you can do and often the most overlooked.

Horse training isn't always pretty — moments of frustration are normal. Sometimes a horse will want to throw his shoulders, resist balance, and refuse direction. The goal is to wait for the hips to shift, the shoulders to soften, and the body to respond. Patience is key!

Setting up for success can mean rethinking the approach. Instead of directly confronting a problem, observe and prepare. Look for softness, responsiveness, and willingness to yield. Progress isn't about perfection; it's about creating tools to work with.

Feeling when a horse gets a little humpy. The key is to hold steady and not release until they soften. Encouraging forward movement, especially when it's lacking, is crucial from day one.

Witnessing a horse's first arena ride is powerful! It's about baby steps: a calm walk-off, a gentle turn. "If I could accomplish that today, then that's a pretty good day." Moments of patience, trust, and small victories. ✨

It can be tough when a horse lacks forward motion. A voluntarily offered trot is a huge win! Sometimes, freedom and energy are the best motivators.

In order for you to have a harmonious and safe relationship with your horse and for them to be calm and find peace with the world they must learn to yield to pressure AND how to manage pressure once applied. 🔥What do think of this statement??

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what happened to a horse. What’s important is what happens to the horse. Follow their timeline and allow them to get better
