Black Eagle Ranch Nigerians

Black Eagle Ranch Nigerians We raise registered Nigerian Dwarf goats for show and as pets. We have a clean, tested herd. My name is Pat Blank. We are also members of AGS and NDGA.

My husband Terry and I moved to our acreage in NE Iowa 37 years ago. We started with two pygmy goats and loved them, but discovered their dairy counterparts the Nigerian Dwarfs in 2000. We had some of the first of the breed in Iowa and have watched their popularity grow especially in the last 5 years. Our herd name is now permanently registered with the ADGA. Our herd tested negative in the fall o

f 2023 for CAE, CL and Johnes. We dam raise our babies, but handle them daily so they are people friendly without being obnoxious.

We are about two weeks away from welcoming new babies to the Ranch. In the meantime, we'd like to sing the praises of the dairy wether. (neutered male) In the past three years, we've had increased interest from customers about wethers as pets and companion animals. They are perfect for first time owners and many county fairs allow 4H members to show them. Our friend Ronda has an on farm business and is able to showcase her four boys. Our pal Charlie (Charlotte) recently added 2 wethers to her herd and will be showing them at the Butler County Fair in June.πŸ₯°

People often ask why should we buy a registered goat when we just want a pet? Here at Black Eagle Ranch we work very hard to keep our herd disease free and maintain a high quality Nigerian Dwarf herd. Caring for goats is a major commitment (12+ years) and it requires a lot of time, effort, and care. The price of our goats is determined through genetics, milking ability, show potential, and etc... When you purchase a Black Eagle Ranch goat you are sure to get a healthy and friendly family member. The price we set for our goats helps reassure us that our buyers are serious about caring for and loving the animal . The prices help us cover the cost of vaccinations, feed and hay, bedding, kidding supplies and many other necessary purchases. We do give a $50 discount to 4H and FFA homes. We also usually have a handful of wethered (neutered) males for $125 each. Our next round of babies is set to arrive in approximately 30 days. We have only 2 reservations so far. PM us to be put on the list for June kids!πŸπŸ‘ΆπŸ’•

We dusted off the Little Tykes car for the kids. They push it around the pen, and open and close the doors. If they all try and pile in, they actually honk the horn when one of their little butts presses against it. πŸ˜‡πŸ˜˜

In the midst of big time preparation for the big, bad blizzard, we took a break to welcome of friends Addy, Emalin and Jackson for some baby goat cuddling. All three did a great job!
