We are seeing an increase in cases of Cytauxzoonosis, commonly known as Bobcat Fever or Cytaux, in cats throughout our area. This serious and often life-threatening disease is transmitted by the Lone Star tick. Once infected, cats can become critically ill in a very short period of time.

The best defense against Cytaux is year-round tick prevention. Not all flea and tick products provide protection against the Lone Star tick, so be sure to choose a product specifically labeled for that purpose. If you’re unsure which prevention is best for your cat, our team is happy to help.

⚠️ Signs to Watch For:
• Lethargy or weakness
• Loss of appetite
• High fever
• Pale or yellow-tinged gums/skin (jaundice)

If your cat is showing any of the symptoms listed above, please contact us right away. Early detection and treatment are crucial for improving the chances of survival.

Does anyone recognize this cat? She has been hanging around in the Northpoint neighborhood for a while now. She came up to our door yesterday, and we were able to bring her inside to keep her safe.
