Voyagers Rest Farm

Voyagers Rest Farm Promoting Our dogs, Neapolitan Mastiff, Italian Mastiff, Pitbull the best for our families.

Our dogs are socialized, the two youngest have gone through obedience classes as we feel that is important for these dogs.

In a couple of years when Enza is bred, we will again highly encourage you spend the money for obedience classes, you will not regret it!! These dogs are so amazing, but they are hard to rehome as they get so attached to family. A good foundation in obedience classes, the time spent working with the dogs and building a connection, the better the dog will be. Yes, these are lap dogs, but the guardian trait in them needs direction and focus. It's better to have a well mannered dog than one who controls the house, you need to be their leader they can count on. These dogs do not do well dropped into a shelter, and it's hard to find a good home after that happens. Our focus is for a home for life for each puppy we raise.

Another Belated Birthday Remembrance, I don't believe any of our 2010 pups are still alive but wanted to remember the litter of Miyah and Brutus, July 26/27 pups that arrived while we were showing at the fair. Karma, Kasa (RIP), Brinks, Kitti, DeJa, Joe (RIP), Grux (RIP), Yahto (RIP), Sabian (RIP), Shelby, Jigs (RIP), and Mokey. We haven't heard from a few of them for a few years. They were quite the attraction while we finished up the last four days.

Sayuri, my little lily, will always be in her place in my heart. There were no red flags, she wasn’t showing any signs of illness, so this post isn’t to take anything away from her. Our dogs have always been well taken care of, and our objective has always been to make sure we have quality pups in our breeding program. In retrospect, I am stepping into a new adventure offering pups that have health certificates so that our puppy families will have confidence in the pups’ eyes, heart, hips, and such. With that, there will be breed registrations and microchips.

I am honored to be chosen as a co-owner in a new breeding program with a kennel. So, we are introducing C4 Kennels Patience, aka ENZA, to our home. Enza comes from a line of police/tracking dogs on her dam’s side and a bloodline tracing back to Bulgaria on her sire’s side. Fully registered as Italian Mastiff/Cane Corso, I will not have to look for a stud, as he will be chosen by the kennel.

Enza’s name comes from the Italian word, Pazienza, meaning patience. She’s 4 ½ months old, so we have two years of training and working with her. She’s already 90% housetrained (except puppy chewing) and in the few days we’ve had her, she’s recognizing her name and getting a good recall. She’s also found her voice and will run to my side when barking at outside activities. She is going to be a fast learner and we are excited to see where this new adventure takes us.

We are already falling in love with this little girl, and at the same time, we are still grieving our beautiful Sayuri. We will continue to hold Sayuri close to our hearts while we open it up even more to Enza.

New beginnings, new adventure, always cherishing our memories.

To say we are devastated is an understatement. Last Sunday night, Sayuri was acting her usual self. She ran happily along the trail without a care in the world. She had climbed into my lap and sat on me in my computer chair like the big lug that she was. We went to bed as we usually do. She was fine. Until I woke up and all was still. She lay on her bed, looking as though she was still asleep, but I knew she was gone. Sayuri passed away in her sleep in the early morning hours on Memorial Day. It was quiet. Peaceful. Though, now, my heart isn't at peace yet. It hurts. A lot.

Sayuri was one of the best dogs I could have asked for. She had an amazing recall. She was smart, goofy, and sweet. She was so gentle with the kids, and just a love bug with everyone. Everyone loved her. But, I loved her most of all. I was her person. Sayuri was glued to my side from the beginning. Always reliable, always there. My heart is broken. And as I grieve, I will remind myself of Psalms 34:18. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

May Sayuri rest in peace at the rainbow bridge until we see her again.
