Rotton Weiler here, former rescue dog and Therapy Dog Extraordinaire. I just wanted to update everyone on what Wannabe Rescued has been up to lately!

As of today, we have spayed and neutered over 300 dogs and cats since January 1st! Thank you to the local vets for working with us on this program.

Just consider if each of those animals had the average number of offspring twice a year, we just prevented 3600 new and unwanted animals from being born into a broken system. Wow, that's puppy impressive!

We also still have 4 long term residents who have been with us since September 2023 with no potential adopters in sight. No worries, we will make sure they have the best life until we can secure them a forever home! Thank you to our great fosters.

More great news, 2 recent intakes that were pulled from the shelter under WBR's care headed south last week on transport to their forever homes!!!

We have a couple more who are receiving vet care before we can try to find them a loving forever home.

As a former rescue dog, all I can say is "Rescuers, Fosters, Veterinarians, Donors, and Animal Advocates Rock!"

Hi, it's Rotton Weiler and I want to add a little perspective to the current rescue situation. Last year Wannabe Rescued saved 100 dogs with 75% of those coming from the shelter.

So far this year we have spayed and neutered almost 100 animals, and it's only mid March.

I'm no mathematician, but if you count that each animal can have 2 liters per year of 6-10 offspring each gestation, we have prevented the unnecessary euthanization of 69,000 animals over the next five years and we are just getting started!

If people will sign up and take advantage of our program, Dallas County could look a lot different 3 years from now! Maybe some of the rescues out there could take a breath and take a break because the overpopulation issue in our area will be manageable!
