Welcome Oakley to FoD!!

Welcome Oakley to FoD!!

I am going to have the best Christmas of my entire life. I may have missed Halloween, Thanksgiving and all the days before, after, and in between, but I am going to have one heck of a Christmas.

After two months in GCAC, my foster family came to save me today. Katrina and her family are legend for fostering and all the dogs in GCAC know them. Today they chose me.

The last two GCAC puppies they were fostering for Friends of Dogs Rescue left on their transport on their way to their forever home. Their dog beds were still warm when Katrina and the kids picked me up.

We met up with Ms. Susan and got our picture taken and took care of other stuff and then I went home with my foster family.

I love the kids and they love me. Everyone says I'm just the sweetest thing. I just can't stop smiling. I'm overwhelmed with all the Christmas decorations in my nice warm house, the cozy places to sleep, the toys, the yard, and all the love. I've never had a tiny bit of any of this before.

No more lonely days and nights in GCAC not knowing what tomorrow would be. I know my tomorrows are going to be filled with love because Katrina and her family fostered me and Friends of Dogs Rescue took me in.

I hope you can donate to Friends of Dogs Rescue for my care. I have to get spayed and all so I can get ready for my forever home. You can donate via the donate button below or here: https://linktr.ee/friendsofdogstx

One more Christmas wish. Please go adopt, foster or rescue one of the dogs still sitting in a GCAC kennel. That's just about the best Christmas gift you could give yourself and your new best friend.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I love the world today.

Love,

Oakley

Meet Sonny, the 12 Week Old Corgi Mix With the Sweetest Routine

Sonny is a 12 week old male Corgi mix weighing 17 pounds and packed with playful, puppy energy. He loves to romp, explore, and play with his siblings, but he also has the cutest little habit that sets him apart.

When he’s done for the day, Sonny is done. He is always the first to put himself to bed at night, curling up and settling in while everyone else is still bouncing around. It’s the sweetest thing to watch and shows just how smart and self-regulated this boy already is.

Energetic, adorable, and full of personality, Sonny is the perfect mix of fun and easygoing. He’s ready for a family who will appreciate his playful spirit and his precious bedtime routine. This little guy is a gem.

Dobby is a one-year-old, 35 pound, Lab mix with the softest personality and the sweetest floppy ears. His ears are truly his signature feature, especially when he walks fast and they fold back like tiny capes fluttering behind him. Dobby loves everyone he meets and seems to prefer being near his humans above all else. He is gentle with children and has spent time with tweens and teens, and while he hasn’t been around toddlers yet, he has such a calm and kind nature that he would likely do well. Dobby is house trained and working on crate training. He will go in when coaxed with a treat and stays calmly in his crate when left alone for a few hours. He enjoys the company of other dogs, especially those who play gently, and has been around dogs in the 30 to 60 pound range. He hasn’t been tested with cats or other animals yet.

Dobby enjoys walks and does well on a leash, though he still needs help getting into the car. Once inside, he rides quietly unless something startles him. He loves all toys, is happy to play or curl up for a nap, and overall has a reserved, easy-going energy. He comes when called and is learning sit and shake. Dobby’s favorite moments are simply being near his people. He will follow you from room to room and happily relax on his kitchen dog bed while you cook. He closes his eyes with pure contentment when you scratch behind his ears. When you look at him, he gives off the sweetest message: he just wants to love and be loved. Dobby would fit beautifully into almost any home and will make a very loyal, gentle companion.

🚨 FOSTERS OR ADOPTERS NEEDED! 🚨
We have 7 amazing rescue dogs currently in boarding who are ready for their chance to shine — but we need temporary or permanent fosters to make that happen!

These sweet pups have been waiting patiently, but boarding can only tell us so much. What they really need is a home environment where they can relax, open up, and show us who they truly are. With even a short-term foster, we can learn:
🐾 How they act in a home
🐾 Their personalities, quirks, and routines
🐾 What kind of family they’d do best with
🐾 AND get the pictures & videos that help them find forever homes ❤️

✨ Christmas is truly the perfect time to foster! ✨
Many people are off work, spending more time at home, and able to give a rescue dog the attention and comfort they need. Even a short holiday foster can make a life-changing difference for these pups.

Fostering saves lives. These 7 dogs are ready to love, cuddle, play, and finally be seen. Please consider opening your home and heart.

👉 If you’re interested in fostering (temporary or permanent), please fill out our foster application!
Let’s get these pups out of boarding and into warm homes this holiday season. 💛🐶

It is today! Please consider Friends of Dogs Rescue to donate to on this wonderful day of giving!

So far for 2025, FoD has rescued 211 dogs from Friends of Dogs at Guadalupe County Animal Control. We have adopted out 196 GCAC dogs in Texas, Pacific Northwest and to New England to date for 2025. We currently have 68 dogs in foster care that are up for adoption.

If you would like to donate to our cause so we can keep going, our links are below, there are only a handful of volunteers who make all of this happen.

Meet Bronco!

Bronco is an amazing pup, estimated to be between 1–2 years old, and he’s still very much in that playful puppy phase. Curious about everything, he loves exploring the world around him and discovering new sights, smells, and adventures. Bronco gets along wonderfully with other dogs and currently has three foster siblings he enjoys playing and lounging with throughout the day. He is also potty trained, and he is currently working on becoming fully kennel trained.

This sweet boy is quite the talker—Bronco loves to express himself with silly grumbles, playful barks, and funny little sounds, especially when he’s excited or vying for attention. He has a big personality and an even bigger heart. While he can be a bit skittish at first and sometimes thinks he’s in trouble when you approach, he is quickly learning that people can be kind and gentle. Each day, he grows more confident, more trusting, and more affectionate.

In the evenings, Bronco enjoys curling up on a cozy dog bed, and he’ll occasionally trot over to give you a soft “boop” as his sweet way of asking for pets. He also has great protective instincts—if he hears a strange noise outside, he’ll be the first to investigate and alert his people.

Bronco is well on his way to becoming a loyal, loving, and devoted companion. With continued patience, reassurance, and love, he will blossom into the incredible dog he is meant to be. He’s ready to find a forever family to adore and protect.

Bronco is being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX but can be transported to the PNW and NE United States after adoption.

Meet Betty Boop, a charming rescue dog with a heartwarming tale. At just under 2 years old and weighing 60 pounds, Betty is a gentle soul seeking a forever home filled with love and structure. Initially reserved, she blossoms into your devoted companion once trust is established.

Betty Boop thrives in a calm environment, making her an ideal fit for a quiet household with one or two people. Her soft coat invites affection, and she revels in kisses and belly rubs. A couch companion extraordinaire, Betty will happily join you for your favorite shows, making every moment special.

This sweet pup enjoys outdoor activities like walks and backyard playtime, including fetch, but caution is advised in dog parks. House and kennel trained, Betty has overcome challenges, including heartworm treatment, showcasing her resilience and spirit. She can co-exist with other dogs but she prefers to be the only dog.

If you're ready to open your heart and home to Betty Boop, you'll discover a loyal friend who cherishes the simple joys of companionship and shared moments.
