🌲🐾 Introducing POMPOM 🐾🌲

PomPom came to The Pug Queen Foundation when a breeder relinquished multiple pugs not long ago. Her body shows the telltale signs that she has had multiple litters, but those days are over now, sweet girl! PomPom has been spayed, had a dental, and is vaccinated. She is ready for her fresh start, here in the PNW!

PomPom is a perfect mix of energetic, busy body little pug girl and sleepy, snoozy princess. If you’re looking for a girl that plays hard and sleeps hard, PomPom is your girl! Let’s find her the perfect forever family so we can let this retired breeder mama be a baby herself for once ❤️

Evergreen Pug Rescue is a Washington state based rescue and most of our dogs are being fostered in the greater Seattle area unless otherwise stated. Please check our website for more information on our available dogs and to apply to adopt! 🩷🐾🌲

🐾 Happy Tails x National Trails Day 🌲

Now, I bet you’re wondering how these two items intersect. Pugs and hiking? I don’t think so… Except YES! Pugs can and do hike, especially the ones with a little more of a snoot, like Cooper.

Cooper just celebrated his 1 year gotchaversary with his family last weekend. His family absolutely adores this active bugg! I remember the first update text I got after he was adopted, talking about how they just hiked 5+ miles and then Cooper taking a nap at a brewery after.

Less than 2 months later, we witnessed his athleticism again. Cooper was the fastest pug at the Pug Promenade! It wasn’t a race, but if it was Cooper definitely would have been in first place.

Anyway, the point is, get outside! Hit the trails for a hike or just a little walk in your neighborhood, even if you have to bring your pup in a stroller. A little fresh air and exercise is great for everyone.

Here’s a quick note from Cooper’s dad:
“This past weekend we celebrated Cooper’s 1 year gotcha day. I could write novels about how much we love him, but here’s a couple recent pics instead. Living our best lives, and extremely thankful for everyone that cared for him on his journey to us

Thelma came into rescue as a stray via a shelter in Central Valley, CA in 2025. She was transferred to The Pug Queen Foundation as she had medical needs and they knew they would take care of her. Initially, she couldn’t bear any weight on her left rear leg. There was talk of amputation, but an amazing orthopedic surgeon did their magic and Thelma was able to keep all 4 legs! Thelma walks with a cute little bow legged gait, but we don’t think she’s in pain. She loves walks!

Thelma is young and energetic. She’s a small pug but has a really big personality. Thelma is super snuggly and thrives being up close and personal with her people. If you’re not comfortable with the notion of a pug on the couch or the bed - Thelma is not for you! She truly needs to be super close! We hope you like pugs in the bed and on the couch, because Thelma will tell you that that’s her non-negotiable.

👌🏾Thelma’s Likes:👌🏽
🐾Being close to her people, super close! Snuggling, sharing your bed.
🐾Playing with toys, especially toys that are big enough so that you can play tug with her.
🐾Going for walks. Doesn’t have to be a super long walk, but as soon as she sees her leash, she gets mega excited.

❌Thelma’s Dislikes:❌

🐾The trash truck! As soon as she hears it, she barks loudly to inform them that they are not welcome.
🐾Dogs coming close to her food bowl - they will be immediately put on check. She is otherwise disinterested in other dogs. She will occasionally get into bed with another dog if she is chilly.

Thelma is unusual in the pug world, because she is not obsessed with food. She eats well in the morning but sometimes she is indifferent about her evening meal. Unlike most pugs, she is very picky about treats. She will often look at them, look at you, roll her eyes and mutter “whatever” and then walk away!

Thelma is making her way to the PNW today and will need a dental before ready for adoption. If cuddling 24/7 and pug hair on all your furniture sounds like your dream, apply for Thelma now! We can’t wait for Thelma to have a person or people who will connect with her and give her the love she deserves.

🎉💙 Happy Tails PUPdate! 🩵🎉

Eddie (fka Baylee) came in over a year ago from a breeder surrender (10 pugs!!!). We got him updated on medical (neuter, nares surgery, dental, vaccines, etc) and found him a great retirement home. His family just checked in with us and here’s what they had to say:

“We just celebrated our one year “gotcha day” last month. Eddie aka Baylee, has settled in to his new forever home. And he is living his best pug life ever.He has gone on new adventures (road trip to the beach), loves nightly walks in the woods and cuddle time on the couch or outside on the patio.

From all the coordination that Danielle provided to his amazing foster Mom, Cori, we are grateful for all the support!”

Thank you for taking such good care of this sweet boy 🐾🩷🌲

Want to know one of the biggest expenses in rescue that nobody talks about?

Spay and neuter.

It's not an emergency surgery. It's not a dramatic medical case. It's not the kind of thing that usually gets its own fundraiser. In fact, it's so routine that most people don't think much about it at all. But routine doesn't mean inexpensive.

For every dog that comes through Evergreen Pug Rescue, spay or neuter is simply part of the care we provide. Just like vaccines, microchips, exams, and fecals, it's one of the many pieces that help prepare a dog for their next chapter.

And yes, that includes puppies. If a puppy isn't old enough for surgery before adoption, we use a spay/neuter addendum and deposit to ensure the procedure is completed when the time is right.

Spay and nueter matters—not just for the dog in front of us, but for dogs everywhere.

Sometimes rescue isn't about the big, emotional moments.

Sometimes it's about the routine things that happen every day behind the scenes.

And sometimes those routine things make all the difference.

🌲🐾 Adopt KOI 🐾🌲

Koi came to us recently as an owner surrender and has been getting along great with the other pugs in the foster home. Although she’s a bit overweight and gets short of breath easily, this girl wants to play!

The vet had recommended she lose a few pounds before any surgical procedures, so she’s currently on her weight loss journey with smaller portions and frequent short walks.

This doesn’t stop Koi from going to her forever home, as long as you can commit to the follow up appointments near Bellevue. Koi will be adopted out with an addendum letting you know how all the things EPR will cover when she does reach her goal weight.

Apply for sweet Koi today! 🩷🐾🌲

🐾 One of our favorite Pug Promenade traditions is back! 🐾

Adopt-A-Signs will once again line the Pug Promenade route, bringing smiles, laughter, memories, and plenty of photo opportunities along the walk.

Whether you'd like to honor a beloved pug, celebrate your current crew, send a message from afar, thank a special person, or simply make people smile, we'd love to include your sign.

The best part? Any donation amount gets you a sign.

Last year, we saw so many adorable photos of pugs posing proudly next to their signs. Did your pup have one? Share your favorite photo in the comments—we'd love to see them!

🌲🐾💙 HAROLD 💙🐾🌲

Harold is SUCH a friendly boy. He likes people, does great with other dogs, and genuinely wants to be social and connected. There’s a really happy, sweet dog in there.

But it’s also become clear that touch was not always something Harold knew as kind or safe.

Because of that, he has triggers—especially around his neck—and when he feels uncomfortable, he’ll growl, lunge, or try to create space. Not because he’s mean, but because at some point in his life, he learned he needed to protect himself.

The good news? That life is behind him now.

Harold is in a trainer foster home where he’s working on trust, desensitization, and learning that affection and touch can be safe. It’s going to take patience, time, and the right adopter—someone experienced or excited to work alongside a trainer and willing to meet him where he’s at. Because of his triggers, we’ll also be looking for a home with kids 13+.

Sometimes rescue is more than medical care. Sometimes rescue means helping a dog learn that the world can be safe again—and making sure dogs like Harold get that chance, too. ❤️

🌲🐾 Adopt OTIS 🐾🌲

Otis is an owner surrender that came in when his family’s situation changed. He was well loved and taken care of and it shows in his behavior and personality! This boy is a well adjusted and sweet Velcro pug that is house trained.

Otis had a grade 4/4 luxating patella and he received surgery to correct it. The recovery is long and restful, but we know it will be worth it for his pain to be gone. His restrictions end in a few weeks and we are so excited for him!

With that being said, that doesn’t stop Otis from going to his forever home as long as you’re in the greater Seattle area and willing to take him to his follow up appointments, covered by EPR of course.

We are accepting applications for Otis either way, but we will be prioritizing approved adopters that will commit to continuing his medical care and visits, following our vet’s advice. If you’re cool with that, apply today!
