At Riverfront Riding Center our goal is to offer the attention and personal experience that you’ll come to expect and enjoy. “Not just another Lesson Barn a Family” and we are excited to share our knowledge and love of horses with you and your family. We are first a lesson stable, sharing and teaching through various established programs that will help you or your family member reach exciting equestrian milestones. We’ve provided services as a date night out for couples, small family groups, and larger groups such as for birthday’s, weddings, girl scout groups, school groups and many more, let us work to create what’s needed to meet your needs and or vision. Lesson services are primarily in the English discipline with various programs, including private and small group, after school programs (K-12) and for those who have the desire to compete, we offer the Riverfront Show Team. If there is a specific need or goal, you’ll find we do not limit our clients to only our regular programs or areas of service we are happy to work with you to design a plan that will meet your specific needs or accomplish your goals. Services offered in the Western discipline: Intro into Speed Eventing and Western Pleasure, these are offered on a more limited basis. During the school year, we have several "After School Programs" with plans for K-12, this provides transportation directly from the school to our stable. Groups fill up fast, so if this is something you’d like to try call for details and to be put on the pre-registration call list. Trail rides by advance appointment and subject to scheduling availability. Trail rides generally take place at one of the many historic locations in our immediate area or at one of the local Public Parks which have trails designed and designated specifically for horseback riding. Our years of experience finds this to make for a safer yet more exciting trail riding experience and it offers the ability to adjust to the type of ride our client’s desire. Riverfront Riding Center is located in the heart of York County in the small riverfront town of Seaford, VA, allowing easy access from Hampton, Williamsburg, Newport News and more. We are on our family farm which spans 5 generations, not often heard of anymore, something we are eternally grateful for and love to share. So come and let us share our love of the equestrian world and put our many years of experience to work for you!

Last week we had a blast during our advanced camp! Our cross country day is always a favorite and we got some beautiful pictures of our riders and horses this year. Thanks so much to Sam (Myrtle +Ash Photography) for capturing these amazing images! The rest of the week was spent trail riding, barrel racing, playing fun games, and much more!

RRC has gained a few new faces around the barn in the last couple of weeks and we haven’t gotten around to formally introducing them yet. We are excited to welcome Sonny, Rusty, Wabi and Peaches to Riverfront!

Sonny is a 6 year old thoroughbred gelding joining our training program. He is such a fun ride and has already shown huge improvements since he arrived. We can’t wait to see how he shines in the show ring!

Rusty is a 5 year old Thoroughbred gelding who is just so sweet and kind. He’s been brave and willing in his first few rides with us, and we think he will quickly become a barn favorite.

Peaches is a 12 year old Appaloosa mare owned by the Young family. We are so excited to have this cute girl joining our program. She’s very quickly learning the ropes of being a lesson pony and seems to be enjoying her new job. Thank you to the Young family for sharing her!

Wabi is a 4 year old Thoroughbred gelding who has been with us for a couple months now and has been impressing us since day 1. He has the best brain we’ve ever seen in a baby horse and has taken everything in stride. From beginner camp and lunge line lessons, to horse showing and jumping 2’6 with flying changes, he’s really showing us he can do it all!

What a fantastic day horse showing at Riverdale with HRHSS! Thank you for a wonderful and efficient show!

We are so proud to have had the honors of being both the Pony Pleasure and Horse Pleasure Champions of the day- congratulations Darcy and Juliette!

Also congratulations to Nora for her best to date courses with Tiger Lilly, what a huge improvement!

Special shout out to Darcy for winning the Ring 2 Best Turned Out Award! Your hard work and extra 5am bath really paid off with that white pony! 🧼 💪 ✨

Hannah also showed one of our newest guys, Wabi Sabi in the thoroughbred hunters with beautiful trips and earning Reserve Champion… what an amazing baby horse! So excited to see watch this guy come along!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Denise Harden on her new ownership of Rollin’ on Faith!!! We have had Faith here with us for a while now, and she has done a great job at teaching so many of our riders, but it is time that she has her own person and we couldn’t think of anyone better than Denise. Denise has also been a pivotal part of our program for so long and we are so excited that her dream of owning her own horse is coming true. We know she is going to give Faith all the love and care she deserves💗🦄

Riverfront Riding Center is excited to officially welcome Hannah Ferguson and her horse OzDust to the team! Hannah has been with Riverfront for a long time, but just recently became a full time instructor and barn manager!

Hannah started her equestrian journey at RRC nearly 10 years ago and has been riding and showing with us ever since on both our IEA and Elite team. She has competed in the hunters, equitation, and jumpers with her horse, and has had lots of success! In 2020, Hannah received the Best Amateur Rider award after her first season showing as an adult amateur.

Hannah spent the past 4 years at Emory and Henry University in their equine studies program, where she learned so much about riding, teaching, horse care, barn management, and more! While she was there, she showed on both the IHSA and IDA teams, and also competed at a few USEF “A” rated shows. Some of her collegiate achievements include being the Zone 4-Region 5 Reserve Champion in Novice, qualifying for Zones, finishing 3rd overall at the IHSA Zone 4 championships, finishing her first year of competing dressage as the Region H Lower Training Champion, and qualifying to compete individually at IDA Nationals, where she finished 4th in the nation. When Hannah wasn’t showing, she had the joy of schooling many horses at both home and away shows!

We are so thrilled to have Hannah and her knowledge on board with us!
