Safe travels to our APHA yearlings The Smoke N Gun (Playgun x Smoke N Jet surprise) and Dun In Metallic (Metallic Chrome x Dun It Strait Delta)! Both left this morning for Texas. I am sure they’re happy to skip Iowa in winter! ☀️

Congratulations to Nonie on the purchase of these 2 yearlings!

She’s not scared one little bit! 😊 Our 2026 AQHA/APHA filly Cuttin Wildflowers “Firefly” is by Snapdragons, out of Smart Kitty Cuttin, an earning daughter of Kit Dual.

🎉 Congratulations Nonie Reed on the purchase of The Smoke N Gun!

“Steel” is a son of Playgun, out of Smoke N Jet Surprise, a NRHA and NRCHA earning mare. We’ll be seeing this guy in the show pen!

Steel was the result of a partnership between War Ponies and 4 Line Ranch. Our shared goal was to reintroduce Playgun’s bloodline into the APHA reined cowhorse world.

We decided to try something new today! 🤠💥

Gin Blossom “Odessa” attended a Cowboy Mounted Shooting clinic hosted by Slater Creek Performance Horses.

Odessa has had quite the season, and it isn’t over yet! 80 miles in the Black Hills of South Dakota, IRHA 2026 Nov. Am. Champion Ranch Cutting and Nov. Am. Ranch Roping (year end titles) and 3rd in the IRHA Novice All-Around standings and several individual IRHA show placings.

Now we're able to add something else to this NRCHA earner’s résumé - beginner balloon popper! 🐴🎈

Finally we have had a break in the rain! 🙌🏻 A beautiful sunset deserves to be the background to a few impromptu equine photos. 😊

Here is Smart Kitty Cuttin “Shorty” (an earning Kit Dual daughter) and her 5 month old AQHA/APHA filly, Cuttin Wildflowers “Firefly” (by Snapdragons). Shorty is an incredible horse. She’s 22 years young, and no one would know it! She’s not only nursing Firefly (weaning is coming soon), she is also growing a foal by Time To Glo, due in May of 2027.

At this time, we are retaining Cuttin Wildflowers for our small program. Watch for her in the show pen in a few years!

It’s time to get our newest flag system set up in the outdoor arena. Thanks Livewire Cutting Systems! 🐴

Today, we are proud to introduce the Quarter Horse Heritage Project.

For generations, the histories of the American Quarter Horse and the American Paint Horse have been closely connected.

Some of the horses that helped build the early Paint Horse breed carried documented Quarter Horse bloodlines. Their pedigrees trace to the same influential horses, ranches and breeding programs that shaped the American Quarter Horse.

Yet today, some descendants of that shared history cannot be recognized by AQHA because of the registry listed on one side of their pedigree.

The Quarter Horse Heritage Project was created to preserve that history and advocate for a proposed AQHA rule change that would allow certain qualifying horses with documented Quarter Horse ancestry to be considered for AQHA Appendix registration.

This is not about changing what a Quarter Horse is.

It is about recognizing documented Quarter Horse ancestry, honoring the history our breeds share, and creating a carefully defined path for horses whose pedigrees connect directly back to the Quarter Horse.

Our website explores the history behind the proposal, the horses that helped shape these bloodlines, examples of living horses that could qualify, and the proposed rule itself.

We invite you to learn the history, read the proposal, and follow along as we work to bring this idea before AQHA.

Our history is already connected.
It’s time to recognize it.

Here are our 2027 foals arriving next spring at 4 Line Ranch!

⭐️ Bosalito- APHA Stallion × Mark The Stars - an APHA c**t due in April

Bosalito, the 2026 APHA World Champion Junior Ranch Reining horse, Res. World Champion All-Ages Ranch Reining horse & Ranch Reining Jackpot Champion also earned his ROM in Ranch Reining. He is by A Vintage Smoke, out of APHA legendary reined cowhorse mare One Smokin Chic.

Mark The Stars “Mimic” is a stunning dark golden palomino daughter of Hollywood Reminic out of our retired show mare, Docs Painted Dice. She’s a beautiful mare with a great mind, a sweetheart personality and beautiful, flowy movement. Mimic has also earned her first tier PAC Recreational Riding award, and placed in yearling in-hand trail at IRHA shows. This is a cross we are especially excited about, and will be our first second generation cross.

Color possibilities include bay, buckskin, sorrel and palomino, plus Bosalito brings three Paint pattern genes to the mix. We are not sure if this will be a foal that we will offer. We may keep him as a ranch riding prospect.

⭐️ Time To Glo × Smart Kitty Cuttin - an AQHA c**t due May 2027

Time To Glo has $308,000+ in earnings and 290 AQHA points, with Superior awards in Heading & Heeling. Time To Glo is sired by Hickory Holly Time, out of Watch Her Glo.

Smart Kitty Cuttin “Shorty” is a money-earning daughter of Kit Dual with a background in cutting and ranch sorting. She’s a quick and honest mare, and one of our favorites to swing a leg over! She has passed her thick bone structure to all of her foals thus far.

This c**t will be black or sorrel, and will likely be available.

Gin Blossom, our NRCHA earning mare proved her versatility this year in a big way. This tobiano unicorn competed in the Iowa Ranch Horse Association show pen (year end award announcements coming soon), and also managed to hit the APHA PAC Recreational Riding first tier mark of 100 hours all in 2026! She had her first trip on our annual ladies getaway week to the Black Hills, where she logged 80.2 miles in 6 days and did 12,730 feet of climbing! 😳
