As some of you already know, on July 2, 2024 I put the love of my life, my best friend of almost 18 years, Billy the Kid to rest.
A home and life without him is excruciatingly lonely and feels very foreign. As I start to navigate this new reality, I have been reflecting on the incredible impact he has had on my life. I have experienced more life with Billy than any other dog, or person. He was always my favorite confidant, travel companion and my number one priority. He traveled to 42 of the 50 US states, 4 foreign countries, almost all sanctioned PRCA rodeos in the US and Canada, hundreds of AQHA, NRHA and NRCHA horse shows, competed and earned numerous titles in a wide variety of sports, rode horses, pushed cattle, hunted rabbits, was a professional print model, dug the best holes, hiked hundreds of miles, loved boating and biking, tolerated surfing, paddle boarding and kayaking. He aided in the raising of countless puppies and the training of so many dogs. Billy was incredibly intelligent, confident, social, driven and gave all of himself when asked. I am truly blessed to have had the honor of sharing so much of my life with him.
I would’ve never dreamed that the 8 week old puppy I bought from a box at a truck stop in Texas would be the most profound and important relationship I’ve ever shared with another soul. I am grateful beyond measure.
Billy the Kid showed countless people throughout his lifetime just how remarkable he was and how wonderful small dogs can really be.
In honor of my soul dog, I am holding a memorial fundraiser to benefit Arizona Chihuahua Rescue in the hopes that many more people can find their own “Billy”.
Arizona Chihuahua Rescue has dedicated themselves to in need Chihuahuas and small breed mixes for many years. Their dedication, compassion and care aids so many dogs and we want to help.
Starting today and until August 10, 2024, The Billy the Kid Memorial Fundraiser will be collecting monetary donations via Zelle, Venmo, Paypal and cash and all donations will be presented to Arizona Chihuahua Rescue on August 11, 2024.
These donations will aid this rescue in their continued mission to save lives and we hope it
allows countless others to experience life with a special small dog of their own.
