Late post but we are all back from a great week at HITS! Just want to really thank everyone for keeping spirits up in extremely hot or stormy weather. August HITS is always a stormy sauna but this one seemed unrelenting! We adjusted, I think the vendors on site were bought out of cool show shirts, we kept the horses hydrated and used all the fans!
I got to take Crystal Potter’s Noether TF to his second show this year, and he was wonderful, 2 first place finishes, one 4th place, and scores to 70%. He was so honest and on my aids and felt like he would go through fire for me in the ring. Thank you Crystal, and his whole team, for helping him go from baby horse to a confident and mature competitor.
Charlotte Pearsall and Cola Korn von der Wiesdarde had another great show at first level, with a 1st place and 2 3rd places, scores to 72.7%. Cola and Charlotte are in their second season showing dressage and are an elegant pair. He loves dressage and his owner so much that he did not react to the very loud flatbed tow truck that was going on behind him during his test- he earned that 8 for submission!! Thank you to Charlotte’s partner Brendon too for all the muscles packing up on Sunday!
Carol Anne Head and Nordic W had 2 first place finishes and a 2nd, in their 2nd level debut, and they became more in sync with each other every ride. Carol Anne did a great job piloting him despite the heat! Thank you Carol Anne for the set up help! Thank you to her partner Tyler as well for all the trips to get ice Gatorade and sunscreen!
Cynthia Collins and Farari are new to the I1 and were 3rd and 6th and 4th in PSG. They are qualified for championships at I1 now and we can’t wait to show with them again! Thank you Cindy for all your help trailering and transporting things and for bringing your pups which are our nightly entertainment in the Airbnb!
Karen Hudson and Iliane had a first and second place finish in the I1, and they had a lovely soft balance in the snaffle! Thank you Karen for trailering Noah and helping with him while I had to coach!
Amy Wolfe and President JC had a solid second show together, and they gained so much confidence in their partnership!! Fun to watch them trust each other more and find more gears. A few baby bobbles kept them out of the ribbons and an ill timed severe thunderstorm monsoon ended one test early! But better to loose a show day then get struck by lightning. My coaching sneakers were a sacrifice to the rain that day. And we learned that none of the weather apps work that well in saugerties for predicting t-storms. Thanks Amy for the help with setup and organizing!
